Craig Davies released by Bolton

Recommended Posts

When Craig Davies was with us before, he was regaining fitness after a bad spell at Brighton. I doubt if he would want to return after the way he was treated by so-called fans. I thoroughly agree what we should be looking for up and coming players from lower leagues or top youth rejects rather than fading and expensive "stars".

A proven goalscorer who ideally we would have alongside Pope. He is a fast centre forward, a player Ben Williamson dreams he could be. He won't be getting £10,000 a week with a move to league 1. I think he will be looking at around £4,000 a week and if Vale want promotion he is worth every penny.

Having said that I will never forget the number of sitters he missed in our league 2 play off push game that fizzled out against Bournemouth in league 2 a few years ago.

So if we want promotion and can get him for £4k a week he would be worth every penny. Tom, on the other hand, will be required to take a pay cut.

Tom Pope is just as good a player , if not better but that doesn't tell the whole story. If he is treated and managed well, Tom will give more to Vale than Davies, and raise morale. That's why I really hope we can sort things out an keep Yom signed an happy, Davies can fade away somewhere else.

My repost was simply to highlight the sharp contrast in offering someone we've not seen in yonks a big wedge as apposed to offering someone we all know well a pay cut. Nowt to do with the whole story David.

Yeah you don't know that. Other than the contract pope has been treated pretty well by the vale and recently hasn't exactly impressed. IMO Davies would score a load for us, thought he was quality last time round and I think him and pope would fire us up the league.

I won't forgive him for the 3 open goals he missed against Chesterfield. I don't rate him, was amazed he got a move to the championship in the first place

They were unfathomable but Tommy Lee was in unbelievable form that day. He did score some crackers for us though - remember Accy away when Kris Taylor also scored?
