Ok ok, replace immense with reasonable, it was tongue in cheek. Point was people who ask for reserve players to play first team don't appreciate the step up in my opinion

And that I can agree with. Dark days for the vale ahead, if we go with this current crop of players.

If we had played some of the younger reserve players today, and lost, I believe the response on here would have been far more favourable for Page. His choosing to blood new faces he would have shown that he was willing to try something new, try and see which of the reserves might cut it in a level much higher. Asking more of them than just sitting on a bench.

Instead he went with the same old brigade and then compounded his mistake by praising the fact that they couldn't cut it against Fleetwood.

Page is a nice man but he doesn't know how to manage men, nor does he know how to deliver bad news to them so I hope that when he is doing their annual review and contract renewal or termination interview I hope he has Smurf with him. I truly think he would bottle it if he had to do it on his own.

Management is sometimes about difficult decisions in difficult circumstances and the weak ones are normally shown up as that.

Not all Good players can move into Management - Glover being a prime example.

Until this afternoon I have been saying we should probably keep page. But today was poor, and I am losing any confidence in him. He seems to be to much of a yes man to grew and glover who are a pair of useless ****wits and he doesn't appear able to get the best of the players. The problem is who do we bring in if he goes? have we got the money to bring anyone decent in and if we do will they have the ambition and drive to do well for port vale, or will they just be here to earn their last pay cheque similar to how Micky treated tranmere.

I don't get to many games especially home games. I decided to attend today hoping for at least a good end of season game, what did I witness? To be honest I just saw a defeated team going through the motions with 1 eye on a holiday. We conceded two bad goals but no real determination to get a result. I left early and missed the goal but I doubt it would of inspired me to jump for joy. End of season games I enjoy but today was a complete waste of my time, effort and money. I spent 7+ hours travelling from southampton for that pathetic excuse for entertainment - we need a manager and better coaching staff!!

I won't be attending any games next season if page/glover/grew are still in their currant roles and things don't improve!

Surely today was the ideal day to try out 3 or 4 of the younger lads with some of the seniors and give them the chance to impress/learn, how exactly do we plan to get these lads up to 1st team standard if we won't even give them a run out in a end of season nothing match, let's be honest for at least one game they might at least of shown more passion/workrate than most of those who played and learnt what it's like to play at first team level and find where they need to improve. Unfortunately this is where our youth setup fails as we fail to get players to make the grade in the first team, maybe Sam Moray is the prime example, he leaves Vale and seems to have excelled if he had stayed at Vale he would probably stagnated on the bench or in the reserves.

As Campion has proven quite successfully, reserve team form doesn't necessarily mean you are any good in the first team.

They deserved a chance today though, especially 2-0 down and looking for a winger to come on. Campion has struggled looked crap today hopefully after a full pre season he will improve.

What the hell was Page thinking about, when he put Birchill on instead of the talented Andoh, what the hell was he thinking about when he played Duffy, and not the talented Birgin, what the hell was he thinking about when we have a talented goal scorering striker in Kapend, I could go on and on, I have always supported Rob Page, but after today, I think it's time for him to go along, with Grew and and the other muppet Glover.

But then again!

Anyone who watched that performance this afternoon and doesn't think we will be headed for relegation next season is truly deluded. None of the so-called management and coaching team should be anywhere near our great club and, of the players, only Neal, O'Connor, Marshall and Pope should stay. The rest can push off - and the quicker the better.

Like a few others who went today, I had a long journey (about 7 hours round trip) only to be greeted by one of the most inept management and playing performances I've seen for a long time. To be honest, I don't know how we have so many loyal supporters who turn up week after week to be rewarded by such dross.

Page, Glover, Grew and the players today (with a few honourable exceptions) should be ashamed of themselves. It was an utterly disgraceful performance by a bunch of amateurs who couldn't be bothered to put in a decent performance for the fair number who turned up to see their team off at the end of the season.

If you are reading this, Norman, you need a complete root and branch clear out or your substantial investment in the club, which most fans genuinely appreciate, will simply go down the drain. You need to act now.

It just gets better!

Birchall boasting on his Twitter page how the players are going to take care of Alderly Edge later tonight. It's a pity they could take care of Fleetwood this afternoon!

Birchy's mate Beckham is perhaps taking them all out?

I think Duffy lives up that way. A load of players went out up there for his birthday last September after the Chesterfield defeat and got slaughtered. A couple of players in very bad states were fortunate that a Vale fan was working nights at their hotel, recognised them and sorted them out.

As for the players walk around at the end, what a joke. Who in the right mind stayed and clapped them round?

I felt embarrassed for all those stewards. Did anyone stay for the walk around? I didn't , awkward would be the word that springs to mind for the players and any fans that did
