Garner is a disgrace to football

It's also a disgrace that the officials fall for his (and other players like him) con tricks and antics. If they took proper action against players like Garner then he would probably score about 30% less goals, and collect more yellow/ red cards. Then he would not be winning such awards.

It is both parties. Both players and officials.

Once the officials start to take action then Garner and players like him will have to stop their cheating, diving. Then they will not be scoring so many goals etc and then not win awards such as this.He is a good footballer without doubt. But he spoils himself with his cheating, diving. You only have to think back to when he allowed a fellow team mate to be send off when it should have been himself that went. Its like rewarding him for his cheating g and he nor anyone else should be rewarded for cheating.

Can you imagine someone like Garner trying the same scummy cheating against a player like Norman Hunter?Garner wouldn't even dare put his football boots on and face such a player.

It's not rewarding cheating at all- he doesn't just cheat though, he does score the odd goal!

I did say earlier he was a good player without doubt.

But he IS a cheat (as you say) Its a big part of his game. Many fans from other teams have mentioned it on various forums even before he got this award.

That is true. I get the distinct impression he is one of those players you'd love if he played for your team but everyone else thinks he's a complete An utter [enter expletive here]

Without doubt it would be good to have his goals. But it is about time that blatant cheating, diving was acted upon.It spoils the game in a lot of ways.

True. Retrospective punishments should be handed out and they should be consistent and severe

A horrible, cheating little oik! As has been said Garner is all that is wrong with the modern game in terms of diving, play acting and conning officials.

He shouldn't be nominated on principal even if he's scored 30 goals as footballers are supposed be 'role models' to youngsters! Sadly the current disease of 'cheating' in the game will never be removed whilst players like him are rewarded(whatever their performance aside from their antics). I've said all along the governing bodies and then referees need to grow some balls and send off players like Garner the first time they do anything on a match day. A 3 match ban here and there and buggers will soon cut it out! Fining them will do no good you need to stop them playing.

I agree with Jacko, Delle Alli is just the same, it's sad that a talent like him and a possible star of the next few years in English football is a namby, pamby, big girls blouse if anyone tackles him!

As a big fan of motorcycle racing, I watched Christian Iddon break his leg in a crash in race one, in British Superbikes at Brands Hatch yesterday. A couple of hours later he competed in race two, and came twelfth. Compare this to the behaviour of the likes of Garner, who chuck themselves on the ground and squeal like big girls when they are touched (or not). The fact that his fellow professionals give him an award for this, says a lot about the state of football today. I'm rapidly getting sick and tired of of all this cheating crap, and will stick to watching sport where courage is rewarded! No offence intended to big girls!
