Pies

I had a pie last time I went there, it was nothing special.

 

Best pie I've had this season was at Chesterfield.

 

Controversial, but each to their own pie I suppose.

 

Shrewsbury had nice pies too, though may have changed what they serve since I was there last.

 

Norwich always used to do a good pie, but they've gone a bit downhill lately. Pesky Delia.

I like the ones at Shrewsbury. Had a cottage pie there once, minced beef and gravy in a pastry base topped with mash.

 

Very nice.

 

Only had a balti pie when they're the only ones left. Got to say I aren't much for them on the whole.

Stockport used to do pie, mash, peas, gravy in the home end. Excellent it was, almost worth putting yourself through the trauma of watching Stockport.

I am sure i remember having that there once..in fact it was so good I am sure I remember having it twice during the one match:eating:

 

Now pie, and mash from the pie and mash shop down The Cut near Waterloo station was a different matter!!!

Was chatting to a colleague from Houston a few weeks back regarding his last trip to the Uk some years back and somehow we got onto food and then onto his love of the pies and pasties we have here. What they/he called a pie was most definitely not what we know as a pie!!! He referred to something like a 'pot pie'???

 

That would be a chicken pot pie. I like 'em, but it's curious they don't extend the idea into beef, especially since we love beef so much.

The British Beer Company, a chain of pubs in New England, serve pasty's and beef pies. On visits to NYC I've seen pies on the menus of British style pubs, never seen pasty's or beef pies etc sold in supermarkets in NE.

They used to do that when Sale Sharks played at Edgeley- a far less traumatic experience than watching County. The production line was quite a sight
