Good luck to Rochdale tonight

Pretty much as expected, I don't have much time for Rochdale, a rubbish little club at the ass-end of Manchester, way above their rightful place who have been a pestilence in a few games against Vale.

I remember our 3-3 draw there about 1982 when we came back from 3-0 down with 3 late goals, and there were some quite violent scenes in the ground. The Sentinel famously took a chance on the result and printed the headline 'Heavy defeat for Port Vale' and never lived it down - one of my most treasured clippings in my Vale souvenir stash.

What was really nice was having a couple of quid on Stoke with a -2 goal start (so they had to win by 3 goals) goals which got me a tidy sum back as a profit and only ever looked in slight doubt when Dale pulled a goal back near the end, thanks Stoke.

The early goal and the nature of it meant Stoke could dictate the game, they were never going to be bullied by Rochdale. It pains me to say it but Mark Hughes has transformed Stoke from the Pulis era, they've got a good mixture of physical and skillful players, with the addition of a quality, consistent striker they would be a very useful team. Good luck to Stoke in the next round, its brill for the area as a whole.

They are slightly bigger than that on Betfair 16's I think. I've had a tenner at 20/1 before the game only because with my betting skills they are bound to lose but they have a good draw next round. The other thing is if they do win there will be some financial compensation for having to hear the gloating from the other half of the city.

Told you what would happen.

As long as the Stoke players turn up for a fight their superior ability will come out on top.

The first and third goals were examples of that - a class above what you normally see in Div 1.

And they will probably do the same at Blackburn.

Ireland can play in Bojan's position if he's injured and he too is a very good player.

I would not bet on stoke to win any match even with counterfeit money.

If BT cover Blackburn v. Stoke they'll have to watch where they put the effects mikes.

I don't think so,last night was a one off with the camera's and commentators sitting just above the away fans.Ian Darke and Robbie Savage were literally two rows above the Stoke fans, whereas at Blackburn the away fans will be some distance away, behind the goal.
