I'm sure Farage and his xenophobic minions will be able to churn out one of their standard lines.

"The infrastucture conna cope", "taking brits jobs", "all on benefits, scroungers", "we aint go no more room".

It does my head when people say we're overcrowded. In terms of population density we're 51st worldwide.

Who'd have thought it?

I thought Carl had been quiet today.

Reports like this don't tell the whole story though - I work with data and believe me, it can be manipulated to say whatever you want. I would question its clever use of time periods and also how it doesn't take in to account other factors, such as pressure on public services like hospitals, schools and so on.

Migrationwatch UK?

May have well just asked Britain First for their thoughts.

They're not thoughts or opinion though, are they?

I was just providing a counter argument - that reports like this don't always tell the whole story.

But overcrowding isn't about population density (as in pop per square mile or similar). What is supposed to happen..house tens of 1000s in the open fields of Devon cos there is lots of space there? We can have all the space in the world but if there are no houses, schools, hospitals etc in those open spaces they aint places to live..population density measn nothing in this context

Not to mention the problem of road traffic...

Or does it just mean that the highly educated from Europe look to come here cos they can get good well paid jobs and the 'lower' educated don't cos they can't?

Perhaps so.

Certainly, to get into the USA, you either have to have a degree or a skill that is in demand. Or marry a US citizen. :D

Interesting how this report comes just 2 weeks before a vital by-election and 6 months before a general election

Amazing how figures can be manipulated to suit the occasion, particularly as the figures don't take into account the period from November 2011 until present when immigration apparently has seen a huge increase....

And the report does not take into account the negative effect on overcrowded schools, lack of housing, overstretched hospitals, oversubscribed dentists, and the list goes on.....

The immigrants that come here and get a job and pay into the system I have no problem with but it is the hundreds of thousands who come here as economic migrants and just want all they can get for nothing that are the problem and it's time the government got to grips with it and sorted it out once and for all, never mind what Merkel says.

This just shows that the jobs they do could be generating money for UK families who instead are on the dole and keeping the money in this country instead of large amounts being sent back to the home countries . A small percentage will need to be recruited from abroad but most could be done by UK workers. If i went to work in Europe, i would have to give up my rented home and finance one elsewhere, when the work finished would i get benefits in a EU country straight away and some where to live dont think so. Coming back would wipe out any advantage of going abroad.

You're wasting your time Johnny, there's nobody at home. It's beyond me that some people can't see that if we keep letting in a million extra people every four years, sooner or later the **** will hit the fan.The migrants coming in now are probably in their 20's or 30's and create money and taxes, but what happens when they become older and need care and attention.Another 10million residents by the year 2050?Good luck with that?
