Martin Foyle back to Vale park.

The coaching at Port Vale has a playing career experience of defending. I don't know whether that matters or not, but Foyle would rebalance that. To use lean management though another coach may be seen as not on the customer value added stream. In other words the fans don't want to pay for it and a better approach is simply to sign a good quality striker who knows what he is doing in the first place.

Foyle was brilliant at running across the line of the back four to give him a head start for the ball over the top.

He was also the very best at winning a free kick when receiving the ball out of defence.

Teach Williamson just these two things and it would improve Ben 100%

And what about the goals?

He isn't good enough it's simple as that. If he plays all season we will be in trouble and I'm certain this is his last season at vale.

For the first time SV he did well in pre-season finding the net.

I do agree with you that if he doesn't get fifteen this season he will be on his way out. Andyregs and I have had an ongoing debate for a couple of seasons over Willo but if he doesnt shine this season I will agree that Andy is right in that you cannot wait forever for someone to turn potential into action.

He did seen to score a couple against far weaker sides he will face in league 1, so I'm still hoping he could score this season but I don't think he will.

Until we sign a forward then he will continue to get the chance and hopefully he can bang a few in to take the pressure off pope.

I just want him to make best use of his talents. i dont believe he is an instinctive goal scorer like popey i.e. being in the right place at the right time for a tap in.

But he does have the pace and strength to worry a league 1 defence.

that should be a good combination Pope and Williamson but for some reason it just hasnt worked and they have been together a good while now.

I dont think pope and Hugill would ever have worked because they were too alike.

Modern football doesn't need combinations. It needs fluidity.

Williamson just is not good enough. We should be using 4-5-1/4-3-3 with Pope the central striker, supported by two wide men and two midfielders pushing on, the licence to do so being given by a holding midfielder.

That system suits the personnel we have but it needs Adams to get out of his comfort zone.
