How can anyone say it's "parking the bus" there's a difference between having zero intention of trying to win a game and stiffling the opposition and setting up to counter attack. Mourinho's done it time and again, is he the special one? Not sure, because having taken 12 points off city and liverpool and still not winning the title is pretty poor, but then again had Man city or Liverpool managed to beat Chelsea they'd probably be champions right now.

 

He's certainly one of the best managers ever.

Mourhinho has something but it's more to do with organization and discipline than tactical genius, the tactics he employed against Liverpool are as old as the hills and he got lucky with Gerrard's mistake. The second goal only came at the very end when Liverpool threw everyone forward.

 

How anyone can say blatant time wasting and players falling down as though they's been shot is tactical genius is beyond me. It must be real galling for Liverpool FC that Chelsea's first goal was scored in time added on caused by the pathetic antics of Chelsea's players which happened too many times for the instructions not to have come from the mouth of the "special one".

Apart from his Champions Lge win with Porto (and he was within 5 secs of going out of the competition at Man U) it just says he's taken charge of major clubs in their respective leagues with already exceptional squads and with the biggest budgets enabling him to buy who he wants. His tactical genius didn't enable him to win the CL at Chelski even with everything in his favor.

Robbed in a semi-final against the Dippers if I recall. His record at Porto was astonishing - 71% win ratio, 2 European Trophies and winning the league by a record number of points. It's because of that that he's ended up at big clubs with big budgets. The man is indeed a *** but he is undoubtedly an excellent manager.

As I said in an earlier reply to George he has something and I agree that he is an excellent manager. I'm no Chelski fan but I hope he gets it right tomorrow vs Athletico, I still haven't "forgiven" Simeone.

Didn't Real Madrid play the same way last night and like Liverpool Bayern didn't have the ability to get a break through. Real Madrid have better and quicker forwards than Chelsea hence the 4-0 score line. I expect Palace to play the same way against Liverpool it is a tactic Pulis has used a number of times

Plenty of others have gone to "major clubs etc" and not won what he has won. He still has to buy the right players and get them working together successfully and better than rival managers at other clubs.

 

Certainly at Inter his achievement in winning the CL (part of a treble I think) was remarkable so that's two remarkable CL wins
