Smurfs announcement!!

Norman gave a short speech after the MOM presentations to a packed room after the game thanking the team and supporters for a great season and apologised for being thought of of as 'negative' but has had to contend with fighting fires for the last ten months

He went on to say that he wants to really have a go next season and in his words 'go for it' so has announced that whatever the season tickets sales amount to he will put in 25% of whatever the figure is of his own money to boost the playing budget that's not a loan!!

He was wildly applauded so lets wait and see how that pans out and how that gets around the 60 % rule

Good on you Norman cue the negative comments from the usual suspects!!

Port Vale have over achieved these last two seasons, whatever his critics say, Smurf must be doing somethings right.

I don't get the 'over achieving' view. We've had two good seasons, reward for some hard work and investment. That doesn't mean we've 'over achieved'. It's also a real negative, a bit like when tin foil used to refer to the club he managed as a 'little club'. We're as good, as big, as successful as we tell ourselves.

We've had a good season and I want us to build on that and do better still. The 'over achievers' presumably think we'll go back to 'normal' next season and be cr@p?

Let's be honest. most of us will surely agree that this season we have done very well indeed, with frankly one of the poorest defences in Division 1.

With a little tweaking here and there we must have a excellent chance of doing better next season if we can replace some of our present squad. Again last night we more than held our own against one of the so called "better and bigger" clubs and we had a scratch squad out there.

We have to realise that Norm is honestly doing his best for our great Club and if we all stick together and buy tickets we can have a very decent budget (with Norm's promise of putting extra in somehow) and we will more than match most clubs next season. Come on guys and gals let's help build up an entertaining, successful Vale.

Thanks, norm for your efforts, we do appreciate it and time will tell us that not only did you rescue a failing giant but you helped us all achieve what we all want.....progress.:smurf:
