Feature we need a CEO apparently

Recommended Posts

Great feature rob you define the role of a CEO. Pretty much what I said last April and every one shot me down in flames like I wanted a job.. I really don't I want what is best for my beloved football club.

The smurf saved us from oblivion are right

He did this however based on some mad maths applied by wildes and he was made to believe he could genuinely make a profit from port vale

Promotion came along smurf got mixed up in the you are god drinking in burslem mentality

Wildes leaves smurf has no clue about any thing to do with running a football clup

Smurf is advised by many to take on a CEO but continues to blunder his way through it all

Good post rob

12 months too late maybe

Norman may have made his money renting out properties, but the rental for business properties was created by people who knew how to make money out of thier own businesses, Norman did not need to know how they did it. He can either learn how to run the commercial aspects of a football club to pay the rent on his ground, or he needs someone to do it for him. Also does the FC finish the Lorne St, or does Norman do it and increase the rent? Of course playing Cov today brings to mind the extreme in FCs renting grounds, when the only income the FC receives is ticket money, the rest going to the landlord, hence why they no longer play at the Ricoh.

Everyone knows all this all ready. What sort of plank needs to pat himself on the back by starting a thread like this- especially as no one cares what you apparently did or didn't say. I'm surprised you remember which username you used anyway

We need a commercial dept who will take extra money off people when it's offered to them on a plate! Several times this season me and a group of work colleagues have approached the club for a hospitality packages that would suit our budget, but still make the club much more money than usual, only to be either knocked back with ridiculous greedy quotes or completely ignored.

Thank you!

I've perhaps not called for a CEO before but my opinion was pretty much the same back in September ;)

Good articles Rob. It is clear he needs help in one way or another. Someone with experience of football commercialism on a long term basis is definitely required that he can learn from. This is where the club has failed in the modern era.

Whether it's a title of CEO, head of commercial or anything else it needs to happen to realise opoortunities and organise current staff or manage them out if the business and bring in proactive people.

You are a nobsack.

Thanks Memphis at least when this ends in tears and it will we can rely on knuckle dragers like yourself who will turn up outside the main enterance ( after some one has directed you there because you can not read) probbably burn some flags and threaten menace to all and sundry.

You choose your expletives due to your total lack of understanding of much other than turning up on a Saturday and have about as much business sense as a toilet.

Memphis I was reminded of you in asda when purchasing a loaf of bread.

Turned out I was indeed wrong again and mistaken

The loaf actually said thick cut.

n a nutshell, this is not a call for a CEO – I’ve already heard the response from Norman Smurthwaite on that matter. Anyhow, the level of correspondence we are talking about is not something that a CEO needs to concern themselves with – we’re talking fans’ feedback, requests, questions and so on. This is the sort of thing that can be handled at a more junior level.

Not a call for a CEO rob was the quote. And your quote. Five months later we need a CEO. My point is we needed one from the day wildes left as I think I said.

What we need is someone who could bring in £500,000 worth of weddings in a year in burlsem. Anyone know where we can find someone like that?

The weddings don't necessarily have to be held at port vale, the receptions could be. Kids and adults parties are huge. I would deliver themed parties 7 days per week.

I will give you one example

Peppa and George mascot hire 100 quid

Peppa and George favours 50 quid

Pinyatas etc etc

Food 300 quid

You can do anything from mickey and minnie jake the Netherland pirate it never ends

Kids parties are worth 2k per week and the venue if promoted properly for weddings a very cheap package these days is 4k

You can berate this as much as you like ask yourself this

What is the turnover of our current hospitality suite

And what does this contribute to team budget I suspect very little.

So next season pay your hard earned money to watch 18 year olds get hammered every week
