Back the Smurf!

I'm guessing that he wants people to stop moaning, commenting on recent events (manager's contract, supposedly missing money, losing money[low gate's],conflicting reports.

I want people to enjoy the football and games rather than concentrating on things which we as fans cant really control. People want clarity and statements....surely we have learnt from the last lot of clowns running the show that if you push people into making statements and being 'clear' you can land yourself in a world of bull**** and saying what people want to hear. There's too much rumour (missing money, conflicting reports etc..) that everyone is all to willing to get on the bandwagon with. Conflicting reports? there is only one report coming from Norman so where is the conflict? if what Norman says conflicts with a pub rumour i'm sorry that isn't conflicting reports thats the chairman of the football club and owner telling you something and someone with no idea giving their opinion. Norman has said what his position is and that isn't what everyone wanted to hear, but he has told us where he is at mentally and what he would like to happen, that couldn't be anymore honest. Just because people don't like what he said doesn't mean its not true! Or would people rather he just told us everything is ok, the clubs secure forever and he will bankroll us to the championship with none of that actually being true?

I'd like to see Norman be bold enough to put a new contract for Micky Adams on the table.

He would have the backing of the supporters to do this, and he shouldn't worry too much about the peripheral issues he was talking about at the SC meeting.

But he might die.

We're 9th in the table and in the 4th round of the FA Cup......which is excellent.

I just want to know that it isn't all built on sand, and I think that's what most people want assurances about.

Mt thoughts exactly Smithie a football team is a very fragile flower especially when the manager and 14 players are out of contract in less than 6 months time

Following on from the Going Gay For Griff! Campaign of a few years ago.

I think it`s time to show our support and appreciation for the present owner with a Going Grey For Smurf one!

I`ve started already, so come on boys and girls, who is with me?

As long as it's not collars and cuffs that have to go grey

I thought he said he would bankroll us to the championship when he first took over.
But what was the time period? Not 2 seasons though, more like 5. plenty of time yet. I don't suppose Hughes and Purse came cheap either. I am more concerned with the infrastructure and business organisation, which when improved support the development and strength of the team, and retain ambitious managers.

Smurf has done a very good job so far and I don't think too many would disagree with that. It is going forward that is the concern because to get us to this point, I do believe he has spent most if not all the money he was going to put in to the Port Vale project. His recent comments are suggesting that too so it will be an interesting and possibly worrying time ahead whether people like it or not.
