At least 3 Lower League players arrested for potential match fixing

Recommended Posts

I have to say, as someone who has been betting quite regularly on matches all over the world (usually just total goal bets) I have seen some quite ridiculous results- it really does make you wonder how many games are purposely fixed even if it means some aspects of the match aren't.

There are at least 200 different ways online to bet on ANY match anywhere. I once bet on Man Utd to have at least 4 goals in their game against Crawley in the cup (when they were in the conference) and Utd won 1-0. Quite ridiculous and i feel that game was purposely fixed.

Look in Argentina at their league games and see how many end up 1-0 or 1-1 you really couldn't make it up.

Stoke beating Chelsea... Man City beating spurs by six... some ridiculous happenings. Bilboa beat Barclelona the other week... unbelievable. Remember Ruban Kazan beating barca in the Euro

The game seems to be in a mess, where's the integrity gone??

I dont see why players would match fix, when spot fixing is a lot easier???

I say this very lightly and it probably doesn't happen but when you see some of the refereeing decisions this season you have to wonder to yourself !!

Why say it lightly? The game obviously needs cleaning up from top to bottom- but ultimately the blame lies with the corrupt FA.

Clubs found to be in breach should be relegated to the conference, players found guilty should be sacked for bringing the club in disrepute and more importantly, the game.

Any player, official, or anyone found guilty should be banned from football or anything to do with football for life, and it should be life.

Totally agree, this is a reality check for the game. We need to claim back the game of football for the decent people and not tolerate cheats, hooligans, corruption etc.

Where the hell do you start when you look at the amount of money involved in the game nowadays and the win at all costs attitude?

Not wishing to be controversial but is it just a coincidence but names mentioned in the media are black football players, no white players mentioned up to now?

I doubt these are the only ones who are involved, but are probably closely connected together putting them in the frame, so probably not fair to make that distinction yet.

At least they could be represented by the same union.

To kick the cheats out at player level you need to sack the morons at the FA, who simply turn a blind eye for their own interests. Also some managers get away with murder (redknapp as prime example)

These people earn mega money and to cheat the game puts them lowest of the low in my book.

It makes you wonder just how many games we watch are fixed. This is just the tip of the iceberg so far. I think people will be shocked at how commonplace this is. Seeing an ex-Port Vale player linked with all this really makes it hit home for me.

Trouble is football fans are like Wrestling fans, they kind of know deep down its all fixed but still like to get excited and pretend its all real as they watch it.

Simple solution is to allow the bookmakers(and therefore the punters) less options to bet on. Very difficult to cheat on good old fashioned bets such as results,scorers,ht/ft etc and easier to corrupt yellow or red cards.Who bets on throw-ins and corners and such anyway?
