Don't know but they survive a transatlantic flight in the hold. Suppose they should go first class really!!!

Its not being in the cargo hold Im worried about, although I very rarely take baggage, its the time it takes me to get from Bangkok to Khon Kaen in high temperatures... I buy pork about 10 miles away and unless I pack it with ice I cant get it home before it starts to smell.

Its winter here now [well cool season] after 10pm and its 24c, the wife is rucked up like its the arctic and Im sitting around in shorts.

March, when I fly back, is hot season, its topped 50c in the sun on many occasion but I dont miss the cold at all, just miss the oatcakes, although the only cheeses available are mozzarella, cheddar, edam and gouder... ah well... just have to fill up when Im back.

A question - we're all mentioning oatcakes shops here, there and everywhere and for me it's high lane all the way! Povey's are just awful. Anyways...

Can anyone else think of a town or city that have so many shops selling a local and traditional food? we have something most unique?

In Sunderland there are many places selling stotties..but you can get them outside the city too

Geordies go on about saveloys and pease pudding

Aound Devon there are shops that sell little else but clotted cream and related stuff..but that's mainly for tourists

But 'dedicated shops' for the locals? I can't think of anything else

The worst for going of Norton oatcakes! They put them in the plastic bags too early a and the condensation sends them west- a crime Povey's are sadly guilty of too. Saying that, the "works overtime" from Povey's on a Sunday morning is one of life's big treats

What is a "works overtime"?

Sounds epic

The Pitshill Monster is very agreeable. High Lane. Who makes the ones sold by Wright's Pies - I like those as well.

Let's be honest, most places produce decent oatcakes as long as you don't buy the cardboard, mass produced ones from the supermarkets! They're about a metre thick and dry and crumbly, yet seemingly have the market covered. Why folk eat those I don't know. I wouldn't feed those to a Stoke fan!
