Yet again I cant see Davis,Lloyd,taylor,shukers names on the loan or transfer list? I personally think we have more chance in increasing the players budget by reducing the squad quantity rather than us selling 800 ST be next sat

Personally, i'd reduce the wage bill by getting Joe Davis and Ryan Lloyd out on loan and get rid of Rob Taylor who will never cut it in league 1. Hopefully that money would allow us to bring Doumbe in who i would love to see partner Robertson. Come on Smurf, please just get him in and we will be up there no doubt about that!

I do find the whole defense saga this pre season quite strange. If we have released 3 centre halves why have we only replaced them with one? Personally I think the signing of Dickinson is fantastic and shows real ambition. But I m confused as to why a left back has been signed when it what clear a centre half was needed more. If we could only sign more player to comply with football league rules why did we sign a left back and not a centre half. We already have jones Taylor loft and Yates who can all play there. A new centre half is essential a new left back is a luxury.

 

I m also struggling to see where loft is going to fit in with the new squad. Although he has a cracking left foot and he will run himself into the ground in reality he is now 3rd in the queue for a left back spot and in my opinion is behind lines griff and birchall in the centre of the park. In any event I m not convinced he is a great central midfielder. I really do think he should have been released and this may have freed up some money for a centre half.

We have seen how a large part of the defence has become unavailable in ths space of a few days, so the same could happen in other areas like midfield where Loft will surely prove extremely useful. I'm not sure you can say he is 'behind' other players like Birchall and Griff, it is all about combinations and MA can try various groupings of midfield players and see what works best.

Suspensions will hit the squad at some point and if this happens at the same time as injuries, then Doug Loft is a great player to have available. Don't forget we may lose Birchall again on international duty too, and maybe Griff as well (?).

If it's true (and I've no reason to doubt it), then it's time to lose some of the fringe players so that we can create space for players of the calibre of Doumbe. As good as Dickenson is, and I welcome his signing, we need another centre half - or come injuries and suspensions we're going to be caught really short.

Technically if Smurf wanted could he not sponsor something at a higher rate through one of his other companies? I believe this is how the likes of Fleetwood get round this. He could say sponsor the ground name at 250k that means 60 per cent of that money then used to sign Doumbe.
