Although it is funny, it is also ridiculous! If Stoke fans can have faith in anyone Peter Coates is surely that person- clearly he has the best interests of the club at heart. Money is not a problem for PC & his family and they have no hidden agenda/ earnings from the club (well he might but for them to go unnoticed, they would be simply a drop in the ocean compared to his Bet365 income).

 

Basically, what I'm struggling to get out is that his decision should be respected and supported

Funny watching Sjoke fans get het up about their proposed new manager. Hughes has not been given the job and they are up in arms about him coming and saying they are going to get relegated and this is a backward step.

 

In 6 mths time when they are playing attractive football instead of hoof ball, they will be saying he is the best thing since sliced bread.

mark hughes appears to be the main man,what happened to the vibrant young manager they were going to appoint to take the club forward with a change of direction,i wonder ,is coates junior after the parachute payment monies.... it's possible, sky money if they stop up and parachute payment money if they go down,call me cynical if you wish.:D:D

Are you one of the Vale fans who has predicted our demise from day one in the Premier League? We'll be embarrased they said first season in, we'll be found out they said second season in, the Europa League will put to much pressure on the squad they said third, Pulis has lost the dressing room they said. 5 seasons later........:D

I struggle to see Stoke ever doing better than mid-table.

 

However, I don't think Hughes will do as bad as people suggest. His career win % is quite a bit higher than Pulis' and and at generally higher levels, at bigger clubs.

Hughes will be a good appointment for that lot, a slightly more refined version of Pulis,will try and play a bit more football although that should not be too difficult.

 

They were stuck between a rock and hard place with Pulis, growing dissatisfaction amongst the ranks andthe realisation that when they changed the manager they could not go for a "pure" football coach because of the blood and snot brigade assembled by Pulis.

 

Hughes the draw specialist will do OK

Disliked by who? The media - who cares? Other football fans? Most I encounter on my travels think Stoke are a decent traditional club and have mainly good things to say. They might not like the perceived style of play but it would be all the duller if every team played the same style/tactics/formation etc.........

 

I should have said 'style of play' TP not club.Cracking owners who deserve a lot more success.Do you think Sparky will deliver?I think he will at least attract a better standard of player and play a bit more football.

In fairness Hughes is only 49 (I think) and whilst he's not actually won anything (like most managers) his sides have tried to play attacking football

Feel sorry for Pulis, Stoke are not the club they were when he took over (2nd time around). Would Stoke even attract a manager such as Hughes pre Pulis era, I think not. I am no big fan of Sparky to be honest and I fear cash restraints from Stoke may be his undoing BUT if he replicates his Fulham and Blackburn days then he will be a good appointment for Stoke.
