If PW and the Smurf think Vale are a Championship club,then we will have a budget to match the ambition.Any player out of contract has options,its their choice,I think DJ will want to stay if the terms are OK,so will the others who are offered contracts.Why shouldnt they?? I don't see why he would choose Gillingham over us. He's familiar with this club, it's players and manager and played a big part in getting us out of this forsaken league. Giullingham may have finished a few points above us (only because of our extended blip - we'd have run away with the league otherwise) but I don't see them as a bigger club than as at all. I'd say we're on an equal footing.

 

He should be our first signing, perhaps followed by Hughes and Birchall, and then we have to concentrate on improving our defence big time if we want to maintain a place in League One.

As long as we can be competitive with what we can offer players contract wise, he'll stay.

I'm no Griffith fan, though he does do the job he's asked to, but I think it's inevitable that he'll be offered something by Micky over the summer. In fairness we do lack genuine ball winners.

I'm also not a Griff fan, but once he got fit, he did play well in the last 10 games. Time to thank him for his service and move onto better players though.

I'm inclined to agree with you as I'd hope we'd be aiming for a higher standard to be regulars in League 1, but as Beechy says Adams is bound to try and keep Griffith on.

As much as this may be controversial, i dont think hes that big a loss. We havent had a proper left back for years and i rated jones going forward but he couldnt defend for toffee, its only his pace that stopped him getting mullered a lot of the time as he was always too far off his man and was easily beaten or turned by wingers.

 

I would be disappointed but think we need other players to stay more than jones.
