Rudgie was there for the Cheltenham match, My son was in the directors box for his birthday and spoke to him for quite some time. He still speaks with great affection of his time at the Vale. I wouldn't think he would take much persuading to return for tonights match.

Friday's game will leave Burton with 3 home games and 1 away to finish their season. Therefore I suspect they will view our game as a 'must-not-lose' game, hoping to keep it tight and maybe pinch one and hold on for dear life.

On our side, a draw would not be the worst result as it would leave us 4 points ahead of Cheltenham and Burton with only 4 to play. Perhaps (hopefully), Burton are concentrating on 3rd place, assuming we will beat Aldershot and pick up points against Rochdale and Wycombe.

I can't predict either way and believe we should not take either Burton or Aldershot for granted and to do so would be foolhardy. Our last few matches have shown the players have a steely resolve which I am confident will see us over the line.

 

Didn't realise that Burton had three out of four remaining games at home. This is a big advantage for them as they have the best home record in L2. So a point would be good for them.

For those who think Aldershot will be the easier of the two games, both Burton and Aldershot have picked up the same amount of points away from home (22) and Aldershot, despite being bottom, have only lost 6 games on the road.

I think Burton will pip the Cobblers into 3rd place, Cobblers have 3 away games including Bradford C and ourselves, and are not good away.
