Paul Wildes phone-in updates

I appreciate and understand that principle and I don't want to come across as being negative or skeptical. I am not that way inclined at all.

I just wonder how it is being handled from a financial standpoint. Wildes and The Smurf have money. We seem to be in agreement about that. They also give the impression of being smart, honest and transparent in their dealings.

But we haven't seen a balance sheet or set of accounts yet.

If on the gates we were getting we managed to lose about 300k a year on average, how are we doing now with increased overheads but without the burden of debt?

If Paul Wildes is "funding it", how is he doing that?

These are exciting times and I am glad "we are where we are".

The debt repayments themselves would be close to the £300k loss. I can't remember exactly what they were now.

I think the points you raised would the same irrespective of who the new owners are. At last there is a plan in place and we are looking up which is a refreshing change. Time will tell if P&N's plans are viable. He sounded extremely confident last night.

It's really exciting to read the plans.

My only nagging concern is, how is all this being paid for? Our gates are probably a little higher than previous years and we don't have debt to service. But are we making a profit with all the extra costs?

I hope it's all as good as it seems. I'm hoping to be able to join in the celebrations at the end of the season.

i can rememeber when mr wildes and mr smurfwaite came in they said that the lorne street stand was not been used to its potential alot of the rooms have never been used, you can see already that off the field activities will be a massive thing and there will be alot going on which is brilliant.

i bet steve speed thinks hes won the lottery and he deserves everything thats coming his way what an amazing job hes done with a pitch thats been down since we've been at vale park. the 2000-2001 season the pitch was shocking it looked like a tractor had gone over it but by the start of the following season you could play crown green bowls on it

I'm no accountant but debt repayments are not a cost. The interest paid is surely the cost?

As long as the "investments" are not loans, we'll be all fine and dandy.

It must be in a Vale fan's makeup to worry.:laugh:I believe things will be funded from Paul's other interests. At some point he may want that back.Look at Stoke ,they lost 7m last year.Bet 365 levelled it up.The Coates family own both companies.

We were only paying the interest for the vast majority of the time with the capital repayments coming just before we went I to administration if my memory serves me right. I'm sure we will find out the full breakdown at some point. Don't know about you Tone, but I actually believe everything these guys are telling me as they seem very genuine unlike MOLD (I may be a little naive) It's exciting times and long may it continue. I'm looking forward to next season all ready irrespective of what league we are in. Thanks Paul and Norman.

I think the £300k refers to the total of the annual interest payments on the council loan against the ground, and the annual part repayment of that loan by the previous incompetents, which had to be met from annual income. As the ground now belongs to the new owners this is no longer an annual expense, but other investments are/will be taking place as part of the Business Plan.

It is far cheaper/economic to build a concourse type area by the main entrance at the end of the paddock, also another at the rear of the stand, same for the Bycars. Replacing the Railway is likely to cost £1k a seat, so £8M, or less for a smaller stand. So a joint venture in the future could be required. The main thing is to move forward, step by step is safest, no Darlingtons in Burslem please. Play footballs the crowds will come, within the limits of the catchment area.

That is what I am expecting them to do, or should I say I believe this is what they are probably planning. They will clear the are of the current outdoor concourse, then construct a new indoor modern one there in the style of the lorne street.
