Food for thought in L1

If we go up, and i certainly expect we will do, then i would think that Micky will be looking to strengthen in the summer. There will be a few of the fringe players released and hopefully better players brought in. If you look at some of the teams who went up last year like Crawley and Swindon they are doing reasonably well and even Crewe have an outside chance for the playoffs and we dominated them last season with a poorer team than we have now. The league above is not that much better. Tranmere have been top most of the season and in the friendly match and the JPT trophy match we played against them they showed nothing. If we go up i expect we will do ok and be challenging at least for a play off place.

I think it was just the amount of games we've had recently has caught up on him. Looked jaded from the word go.

Understandable then as like you said, the last two games at vale park on a heavy pitch probably caught up with him yesterday. Lets get some rest and go again Saturday. A win will take us to 63 points and that would be brilliant.

20 more points will do it I think.

We took Hughes off cause we were getting battered in midfield from that moment on we were the better team and should off nicked the win but no one before the game was saying play an extra centre midfielder it's easy after the game

I think the point is why it took so long to make that change. Anyone who was at the game could see that we were, as you rightly put it, getting battered in midfield yet no change was made until well into the secong half.

Micky can be stubborn in his selection, just as he can be ruthless. He also has his favourite moments when he likes to sub during a game.

I do agree that Vincent has been largely anonymous of late; even with his 2 goals on Tuesday, I don't think he offered an awful lot. I think he is much more effective when we have Dodds in the team, linking up with Pope. At the start of the season, this was when we were more ruthless and a complete surprise to many teams... including us fans!

Away from home, if we are going to play Vincent, then we have to have a Dodds in the side. Drop Hughes and bring him on later if the game needs a goal.

We were on the back foot from the start because Pope and Hughes were trying to press high up the pitch when we should have perhaps had them dropping off and packing the middle of the park. Barnet's system was more effective against ours and they always had a spare man in space. We spent too much of the game chasing shadows.

We did orate away at Gillingham. Did Vincent and Hughes play together from the start there?
