Our fans to get hamil end?

Recommended Posts

I think the idea of putting the away fans in one of the paddock areas is a good one. I must admit that having packed away support behind a goal must favour the opposition.

Just think how the home goalkeepers like Tommo must have felt with two thousand Vale fans behind his goal. It has got to affect his confidence and the same in reverse for the Valiants with a good amount of fans 'sucking' the ball into the net

We used to have the widest pitch in the league, so I feel sure that a bit more pitch added on to the width would meet minimum length requirements though it would put the goals close to the Lorne St and Railway (great !) - must be a few other problems that would make it a tricky venture though. Perhaps the new owners will see this and consider it.

A totally unnecessary thread. The Hamil End is completely detached from the rest of the ground' date=' and is right on Hamil Road. It is an absolute no brainer that this would stay as the away end, particularly with bigger away followings should we go up.[/quote']

This argument that the police wouldn't allow it to happen because the hamil end is ideal for away fans is very easily resolved. If there is a desire to give home fans the hamil end (better facilities, better atmosphere etc), then we could easily just give away fans the Railway and they can still be parked on the hamil road car park. They can gain entry at the hamil road paddock turnstiles, and can be kept in one area of the stand to make it easier to steward. If we get into the Championship, we can open up more of the stand to accommodate larger followings (more money for us). I know people get sentimental about where they've sat for the last how ever many years, but the club needs to be allowed to progress. If we finished the Lorne Street, that would provide another 1500 or so seats down a side of the pitch. 3000 side view seats should be more than enough. Jeff then gets to keep his seat in the bycars, and we get better facilities behind one of the goals.

Ideally I'd then like us to put the tv cameras over the paddock side. That way when people see our stadium they get a view of our best 3 sides, all enclosed, all with Vale fans in. Those 3 stands, plus the family stand, would still provide us with more than enough capacity for our current level of support.

If people were so keen on being behind the goals, they go Bycars. Where are the most expensive seats at a Prem ground? Behind the goals, I dont think so.

You overlook the basic facts of where the vast majority of fans sit, are they the fans you want to upset and move from thier favourite view?

I sit in the paddock myself (despite my username, which by the way I really need to change when I can be arsed find out how to do it). I've also sat in the railway stand, family stand, bycars and then in the paddock when the ID card thing came in.

When I was old enough to go the game with my mates we went where the atmosphere was, at the time it was the bycars. When it moved to the paddock, we moved there. If the hamil end became our popular end, I think a large proportion would go with it. The paddock generates hardly any atmosphere. it sounds good when you're in it but you can hardly hear anyone when you're in another part of the ground. Fine example was the televised Oxford match, sounded great in the paddock on the night, but was shocking when I watched it back on sky plus. It sounded like the players were making more noise.

As a compromise, what about if the Paddock was segregated and we had half of that too? Not my preferred option because of the cost of stewarding and the fact that our fans would be even more spread out than they currently are.

Personally....no. bycars is our end!!

would stoke give up the boothan?..

Liverpool the kop??

We need better facilites in there, attractive pricing ideas to get more in.

Sure loads of ideas out there to get it going again.

I am not being harsh here but the bycars is hardly the kop. It is empty and the fans never sing.

I believe The Paddock is the best thing going for Vale Park. It has the most character, and because it's quite narrow, it looks and feels full even when there's not a huge attendence, which is more than can be said for the Hamil and the Bycars.

It has become what the Bycars was to many pre-90s, and to me it's the only stand I've ever really known in terms of good times and atmosphere.

To suggest we would give the Paddock to away fans in favour of the Hamil End seems bizarre to me!

I know what you mean, and totally get why people would find it difficult to give up their current seats. However, it's the only way I can see the Police not booing so much about us having the hamil end. They'd still have the control of keeping away fans on hamil road and could quite easily keep them segregated from home fans. Look at the hamil end thread on port vale past, that Southampton game was immense. I was in the bycars that night because the hamil was too full. The bycars still had quite a few in, as did the paddock, but the fans really got behind the idea of us having the Hamil End for that game, and it really made for an amazing atmosphere. I think we need to capture that again. Obviously we wouldn't be playing 3rd round FA Cup games against prem opposition every week, but I really think it would create a buzz about the place if we were given the Hamil end. The last time we went to Notts County away it was a completely different experience to when I've been there before in the past. It was always a soulless ground with very little atmosphere from the home fans. Then they moved away fans out of that big kop and to a stand on the side and it was really supported by their fans. Now they create a really good atmoshpere in there. We could do exactly the same thing with the Hamil.

One word- police. They wouldn't let the away fans pass the paddock or Lorne Street in a million years, as it is they drive them to the door

They used to allow it when the away fans used to sit in the Bycars end of the Railway Stand, and I'm talking about big teams with reputations like Wolves, Leeds, Newcastle, WBA, Leicester, West Ham etc..

The far end of the Railway Stand is where the away fans should be housed. They could park the coaches on the Co-Op carpark and the away fans could be escorted away with less hassle than their current location.

Close the family stand and relocate in the unfinished half of LS, and give the Hamil to home fans.

So, upset regular season ticket holders in the Railway Paddock, an area of the ground that, arguably, has more season ticket holders than the other areas. Of course they won't be upset & even if they are, they should do as they're told. Makes economic sense to upset fans. I can hear the first cuckoos of Spring.
