wimbledon thursday

The weather reports I look at state no snow in Kingston for the rest of the week, with above zero temperatures during the day dropping to -1 for a few hours in the night. I think the pitch will be playable throughout the day on Thursday, but it's going to reach around -5 by 9pm so the pitch may well be freezing as the game goes on. Hopefully they'll announce it one way or another by about mid-day on Thursday, otherwise they'll be a lot of pies at VP going to waste in the evening. How much will the club earn from the match being on TV? Surely it'll be worth their while to go above and beyond to get the match on. If it looks **** on Wednesday, they should give Crystal Palace a call and get the match moved to Selhurst Park. That would no doubt prove popular with the locals.

AFC Wimbledon are requesting your assistance to help us beat the elements and avoid another postponement against Port Vale on Thursday night.

With this match scheduled to be live on Sky Sports and the fixtures starting to pile up, we need supporters to volunteers their efforts and clear snow from the pitch and areas surrounding the Cherry Red Records Stadium.

We have this morning had a look at the pitch and although there are currently two or three inches of snow lying on it, most areas underneath the surface are still soft. We therefore intend to keep the snow on the pitch until Wednesday. However, we then intend to clear the snow on this day and apply covers to the pitch to combat overnight frost.

The club is therefore looking for a large number of volunteers if they have any spare time on Wednesday to help us get the game on. Although we do have some tools, if volunteers can bring wheelbarrows, brushes or snow shovels with them then that will be a big help.

In the meantime, we also need volunteers to help clear areas outside the ground. If you can provide assistance on Wednesday or before then, please e-mail at [email protected]

COME ON NLV!!! Get your shovels and start shovelling! :D

If AFC Wimbledons pitch is unplayable on Thursday, they should consider playing the game on a neighbouring London clubs pitch with undersoil heating. Sky will pay the electric bill so they can show their viewers a good game of football for a change!!

These are the neighbouring grounds: http://hidden-london.com/miscellany/football/

Get on the phone - get it organized

Better than having the game postponed and losing the TV money!

Fulham and Chelsea are the nearest :D
