No way back from 2 0 and surprising to see 2 left footers at right back & right wing and 2 right footers at left back and left wing for last half hour.

 

Strange to see Dodds and Taylor up front too.

 

I like MA but not his best night for me!

 

Need a big performance on Saturday now.

 

Had that gone in, we'd have won. Neither side was particularly bothered but after that ridiculous decision to book JMW and deny us the opener it just swung into Bradford' favour

It's normally about this time of year the wheels begin to come off. The sides still got players who've failed before. New blood is needed and not just back up but some quality.

As a vale fan i have never had to force myself to go to a game at vale park, i go because im a vale fan no matter wot ***.

they were better than us,end of, you can only play as well as the other team lets you and we can't win them all,it seems that boozers gloom descends when we lose and negative comments start.Come on get real,we've no star players,we're in the bottom league,anyone who shows a spark moves up,get behind the team and stop moaning we have an important game on saturday.UTV.

We have a game that is very much based around using Pope as a target man. Not only is he our goal scorer but he is out talisman. The bonus recently though has been that McDonald has been a big presence at the back and Burge has offered the odd little neat pass from midfield or at least an attacking presence from the centre of the park. Tonight all three were out and it showed and it's particularly the midfield and another striker we need to sort out in January. We have a ready made promotion material centre midfielder in Loft so a left back must be a priority to move him away from there.

 

If McDonald has been one of our bonus' this season after pope, then I'd be worried!

We need to work on ball retention. When the opposition start pressurising we don't keep hold of the ball, and try to calm down or build an attack we just resort to hoofing it forward. Last night we struggled to string 5 passes together.

 

A win Saturday and everything will be fine. Adams needs to sort out the substitutions he is making, he got it very wrong again last night.

Well that was worst display of football from a Vale side I have seen since Jim Gannon was in charge. We need to sign 3 or 4 players in January otherwise we will be lucky to stay In playoff contention. We simply don't have anything in central midfield to cause any problems.

 

We were 3-4 of our first teamers missing though. I think it goes to show that some of the squad players are just making up the numbers. We have a good starting 11 (when all are available) but do seem to struggle when we lose 2-3 players, it also means that MA is reluctant to rest players (e.g. JMW & AV) - even when he should do - because the replacements don't cut the mustard.

What worries me is just how poor we were.

We are dependant on Myrie Williams and Vincent to be on top of their game to create anything, which when they do we are fantastic, when they don't - Clueless.

 

The mercurial Pope has been a godsend, we have no one else.

 

Centre midfield (whoever plays) lacks experience and guile and a Leader.

 

We have a great Keeper who may well just ensure we get promotion.

Thought we were playing in yellow and red stripes last night due to the amount of times we passed and hit the ball to the opposition! Our distribution was absolutely appaling all night from every player.It was a bad performance throughout. Cannot understand the sponsors need to give MOM to Captain Marvel. I am one of his biggest fans but last night he was totally out of sorts. Their winger took him apart in the 1st half and in the 2nd although Lofty was going forward he made no impression. Some one said we struggled because we had so many players out.....Bradford have had numerous changes all season and still fielded a team of willing back up players so that cannot be an excuse. Something in these last few weeks has gone from Vale's early season flair and form and it has to be corrected now or we really are in for a hard long season. Got to get by until the January market opens and we then HAVE to sign a midfield general, left back and goalscoring stiker to ensure our new era doesn't fizzle out.

What do you mean something has gone? In our last 2 league games we have picked up 6 points, scored 7 and conceded 1.

 

This time of year we are going to have to battle and grind out results. We were always going to get found out and now most teams double up on our wingers. We'll be okay. 3 points Saturday please.

It was the worst performance of the season but this happened in the right competition. We'll have our better players back sat and surely play better. This game did show that without our star players the others on make up the numbers.
