i honestly think the time and money spent on this statue could have been put to better use,,the man was a great servant to our club but any visiting fans will say "who the f*** is that" we could have tried to finish of the "stadium work in progress".i would rather sit in a decent stadium than walk by a statue that only older vale fans recognise.

 

Please tell me you're not serious?

 

Why didn't Mr Bell finish the Lorne Street Stand? Why didn't the old gaurd of V2001 finish the 'Stand?

 

The funds for Roy's statue were raised separately and mainly without 'Boardroom influence, and when in place will celebrate Roy in particular, and a generation of Sprosons' in general.

 

For me Roy is not only a Legend of our past but a Beacon for all who follow him onto the hallowed turf of Vale Park

roy was a loyal servant to pvfc but there is a big difference between a loyal servant and a LEGEND.im a realist guys and roy doesnt qualify as a footballing legend ,when calling someone a legend i set my standards a lot higher than some of you.roy was loyal but "legend"? lets keep it real eh ?

A statue of Big Bad Bob would be legendary - I'd like to see it depicting the moment that he put the frighteners on Clive Allen.

 

I 'd also like to see one of Bernie Wright lifting the Crewe keeper up with his head.

Roy played near enough 800 times for vale. Stoke have a statue of a player who played more times for another club and took that club to an FA cup final....and was a vale fan!

 

The fact that Sir Stan came out and quoted he was a Vale fan always makes me smile when i think of how Stoke fans look to him as their legend.
