Finally we will see Roy unveiled.

 

It will be a truly magical moment for all involved with PVFC. Especially as our takeover is iminent as well.

Unfortunately i wont be there but i will be glued to the radio from afar.

 

I just hope the old regime stay away, including that **** Glenn Oliver. Its because of their actions that all of this has taken this long.

 

If i was there and Oliver showed his face beaming and clapping like a seal, i think a quiet word would be in order.

I believe the Sentinel no longer own the reproduction rights to their old photos - does anyone know if its possible to get a copy of that magnificent leap and goal by Sproey - My younger days are cemented in that picture.

He scored quite a few "Back stick " headers towering above the defenders from a corner,I agree those are things I remember about Roy and also his partnership with Johnny King in 70/71

Surprised about that having had dealings with them. Is it a recent thing? Think the goal you are on about is against Newport in 1969/70 and I think it is in the promotion booklet for that season.

Makes me proud to see my Grandad in the picture in the sentinel

of the 1953/54 Port Vale team.

A number of the people who donated £100 for a plaque have requested a copy of the picture taken of the semi final match when the players were in place just before kick off and we asked the Sentinel about it a year or so ago and it seems the rights are no longer with them.

Last week at vale park i was talking to some of our younger supporters about the statue. Shame that they said they don't give a hoot about it as its they never knew roy sproson. Shame that the younger generation don't look through our history and former players.
