Match Thread - Port Vale v AFC Wimbledon

Out of all the teams we have played at home Wimbledon are by far the worst. Didn't even come to play football and instead just made it a scrappy mess, had settled for a point before a ball was even kicked, then got one chance through shocking defending and scored from it to take all 3 points.

They created chances first half ? We didnt.

Us. Argyle are playing Curtis where he should be playing for a start.

I think we are just asking Brown to do too much on his own. His effort has been great, really but there are real problems with service. Has been all season.

GK,Defence, Midfield & Attack have been the issue all season.😂

What about Ruar....oh, hang on.

Lets storm the club, we can't have this going on for much longer, action must be taken, we must make Port Vale great again.

Croasdale and Garrity have scored goals with late / forward runs on in seasons gone, but they don't seem to have the engine for it now.

I'm looking forward to Gray coming in and showing them how to bang it in from range when you don't have all the pace in the world mind you....

That's assuming he doesn't u-turn and bolt from Stoke-on-Trent when he rocks up in his supercar.

Wouldnt be surprised at all if the Grey deal goes t!ts up

I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed a GK kick the ball out for a throw in as much as Gaucci.

Junior football standards with the ball at his feet.

I promise you we will have better GK’s in our academy for kicking and passing.

Just watched Brady’s PVTV interview. Admits it was basic defending Gordon got wrong, and so did Gordon in his interview.

Gray potentially available for Saturday, having his medical tomorrow, so maybe sooner than they said in the press release. Sherif is under concussion protocol.

Brady did a Moore.

Lets try not lose 1st. That won’ cut it.

Very unimpressed with Brady so far, even if he is working with mainly the same group of players with barely a L1 standard player amongst them.

I haven't seen any change in the way we play, same old dull, mind numbing drivel.

Possibly one of the worst games of football I’ve ever seen.  We all knew how the script would play out, we’ve been watching the same thing on repeat all season.  No goals in this team and always a mistake at the other end.  Not going to pass any judgement on Brady just yet, he’s been dealt a bum hand.  Our recruitment has been garbage, just as it was last time in this division.

We could have been two down, or more at half time. Why not go for it from the start. Wimbledon recent form is terrible. Go for it. We have to win games and now, especially against teams at the bottom with us

But we weren’t 2 nil down. Maybe he had the Exeter defeat in mind? Maybe he saw how we shut up shop at Orient? Maybe he thought that if they can stay in the game then come the second half players like Hall and Stockley could turn it in our favour?

You see fans on here and you hear fans in the ground saying we should be going for it and attacking. But let’s face it, we’re crap, so I have no problem with the manager being a bit more pragmatic and setting us up as hard to beat and scrapping for every point. That’s what it looked like Brady wanted to do tonight.  It seemed obvious to me that they’d been working on that defensive shape and discipline that we saw in the first half. Second half we pushed more but didn’t really create a chance, even when we started to gain some momentum in the game we couldn’t create a chance. But in the end we couldn’t hold on for a point, it was almost the perfect away performance….. but at home.

It’s not like we miss chance after chance, granted early season we did but in recent months it’s just been no service; Cole missed a couple of good ones flashed across in games but otherwise did he really miss many? Stockley tonight winning headers but no one’s running off the flick ons for instance and we put one ball in for him to attack in front of goal all half. We have no one capable of delivering a decent cross.

Agree. There's little to no control in the middle of the park, no combinations of players and patterns of play in the attacking phase (Brady's trying with his ideas but it's like watching high school football, kick and rush stuff). So far we've gone classic route one and lumped it.

But we have 6 CMs at this club, 7 if you include George Hall. And can't work out the right combinations and partnerships to control games, defend or attack from the midfield. And yet there are people who think these are steady players who are good enough for this club at this level. I think not. Not even for league 2. It's not 2024, it's 2026 going onto 2027 if we're talking next season. These aren't players who are getting better with age.

& No point having Stockley flick the ball on if he's the last man, or playing to feet if the wide players aren't running beyond. Only G. Hall has managed to actually do that or take his man on, but then his final ball and end product has not been great.

Is it fair to say we all got carried away after Saturday? By all accounts we were hardly prime Brazil. Just dogged.

Thought we would win tonight. The line up seemed very dubious. And to be fair I’m just fed up with modern day coaches overthinking everything.
That should have been an old school in your face approach from minute one. But as with most weeks, not many broke sweat.

I think that’s it now. We’re doomed.

I said during the first half that this game had a 1-0 home defeat written all over it, just like all the other 1-0 home defeats...

Bottom line is that it doesn't matter who the manager is when so many of the players are utter dog.
