Match Thread - Port Vale v AFC Wimbledon

Featured Replies

Unfortunately this daft kick-off time will take hundreds off the attendance. If it's aimed at families, they aren't generally at midweek games in big numbers and for everyone else it scuppers the after-work routine.

Quite bizarre that last week was going to be 7.45 kick-off but a week later someone thinks 7pm is a good idea.....making us the only game starting at that time.

I remember the days of our midweek home games always being Monday 7.30 starts. They were always eagerly anticipated if it was an FA Cup replay after drawing away on the Saturday before.

Oh Dear Snow , and after we had altered the KO time so all the teany weanies could watch us -  Now their mummies will say Oh No its school in the morning, cant risk our little soldiers getting cold. .

Did the club explain why it’s a 7pm kick off? I understand it will be better for some, such as those with young kids. But I imagine there’ll also be a lot like me who won’t finish work til half 5 and will struggle to get there on time.

I don’t live or work in stoke anymore either, and there’s definitely a lot like me who have to travel an hour or more to get to home games. No way they’re making a 7pm kick off for that. I barely make it for 7:45 as it is.

As others have said, this is a must win if we want any chance of staying up. They are in honking form, even worse than us. They will almost certainly be down around the bottom 4 come the end of the year.

Obviously they will be thinking the same so will be tough.

Would it really? Maybe I'm just a hermit with nothing better to do but I don't really see the issue.

I reckon there’s a lot will struggle to make it after work.

for some reason Stockley has fallen out of favour with the manager as he only puts him on the bench but in my view this is a mistake decision  eave with the manager

Possibly the thinking is to have a more mobile player in there, no disrespect to Stockley.  The forwards we’ve signed also point to this, although no idea how mobile Gray will be at this stage of his career.  We’ll have to wait and see on that one.  Have to say I’ll buck the trend and admit I quite like Brown, he’s raw and still learning his craft but seems strong and a willing runner.  Partnering Gray or Stockley would probably help him rather than stuck up top on his own.

Not only this but teams involved in the other fixtures are down there also so we really need to win just to maintain the current gap.

Honking form is probably putting it mildly, I believe they have won twice in the league since mid October. Fingers crossed for 3 points tonight, a Burton vs Donny Draw and pray Barnsley can do us a favour against Northampton.

If we can get over the line tonight it will be a massive confidence boost for the squad leading into another cup final away at Burton.

Stockley is just so slow and can’t chase down balls or offer much on his own which is why I think he’s on the bench. He’s full of effort but watching him up front on his own is painful. Needs legs around him. It was sad seeing him cosplay as Harry Kane for England, coming to left back just to get his foot on the ball.

Really?. I know a few where i work who start at 5.30am and that extra 45 minutes means they are making an effort tonight. Home by just after 9 will be great for those fans plus night shift workers can attend.

A long day at work and trying to predict the bottom of the league 1 table seems to have effected my ability to read 😆. I hate Burton Away as well! every time I have been i'm adamant they have over sold behind the goal!

All I will say is wrap up warm because it's going to be bloomin freezing.

Been at it since 5:30am be down Vale Park for 6:30 😊
