Match Thread - Port Vale v AFC Wimbledon

Featured Replies

3421 John RCB, Gordon and Jordan pushed up. I like it apart from no Stockley.

Stockley just doesn't have the movement or athleticism to play as a lone striker, in my opinion. So I can understand him not starting. That looks an 11 that doesn't have a lot of goals in it, so I hope we can keep it level and the let our decent looking subs bench win the game for us.

Are we playing a lone striker? Can’t really tell at all. We’ve got 3 centre halves in, two wing backs, 3 CMs, one forward and one winger.

My guess is it’s 3-4-2-1 with John at RCB and then Garrity and Archer behind Brown. Not something I would do particularly but I said that Saturday.

Me too - not saying nowt till the fat lady sings

Is heneghan injured by the way ?

Aye and to be brutally honest I’ve got more faith in Jon Brady to make this work tactically than Moore would have.

Shame the Sherif couldn’t have made the lineup. In theory if the game is close going to the last 25 and we have the opportunity to unleash Hall and Waine with their pace on them I could see that working but we’ll see how it plays out.

If no one on here can determine the formation then I guess Wimbledon won’t be able to either. Just hope our players know what it is and we score a couple before the Don’s have worked it out 😉.

Couldn’t make the 3 hour trip tonight so am watching on Sky+ (bit of a bonus because I didn’t think it would be on with it being a rearranged fixture).

Sky have it as 4231 apparently

I’d take that with a pinch of salt as Sky’s are usually a load of <ovf censored>

It’s plausible but Gabriel as a winger just doesn’t seem right to me. Guess we’ll only know once the game starts.

Minus the fancy graphic I have it as

                  Gauci

       John Humphreys Hall

  Gabriel Ojo Croasdale Gordon

           Garrity Archer

                  Brown

Isn't that how they lined up on Saturday?

Possibly the thinking is to have a more mobile player in there, no disrespect to Stockley.  The forwards we’ve signed also point to this, although no idea how mobile Gray will be at this stage of his career.  We’ll have to wait and see on that one.  Have to say I’ll buck the trend and admit I quite like Brown, he’s raw and still learning his craft but seems strong and a willing runner.  Partnering Gray or Stockley would probably help him rather than stuck up top on his own.
You make it sound like Grays 84 rather than 34! [emoji23]

Bit weird how neither Heneghan or Headley are on the bench after they’ve been featuring under Brady.

Pretty much until he switched to 3 at the back second half. I personally think it's 3 at the back from the start tonight

Good old Radio Stoke. 35 mins to kick off at Vale Park and they're jabbering on about Stoke. Simply wouldn't happen the other way round.
