Contractual Situation

The French Connection

Recommended Posts

Like everyone, I'm delighted with how the season is shaping up. I have a worry though, that most of our players are on only 12 month deals, and we will soon reach the time when other Clubs will be lining up signings for the next season. In short, we face the prospect of losing a number of players, say in January, for very little return, because at the end of the year they can leave for nothing. Worse still, what is promising to be an excellent season for the Vale gets screwed up to boot.

We've had this scenario before in recent seasons, Leon Constantine being a good example, where the Board failed to act and we lost a striker who'd scored over 25 goals that season for nothing.

If the club had settled ownership, the Manager would by now have got people on secure 2 year deals, or at least we would be starting that process and peventing the problems from emerging further down the line in a few months time. As it is, I fear nothing is happeneing and we could be in trouble fairly soon.

We need Bob Young to get something moving pretty sharpish!

With every goal that flies in, and every point we gain, I'd imagine the pressure ticker notches up one more for Mr Young

I'm not worried about players leaving. If we are fighting for promotion all season, playing well as a team and Micky stays this time then I don't think many players will want to leave. Why would they?

Like I've said before we can be forced to accept offers for players but the players cannot be forced to leave if they don't want to.

I have no doubt that should bids for players start to come in in November time(loan, then signing for x amount in January) then Young WILL start to sell(if as looks likely we are still in admin).

IF however a new owner does appear then they need to get them contracts changed asap, then give Loft,Adams and Page extended ones.

But can BY force the players to leave if they don't want to?

A more secure future IF the club still in administration.

And with every point that goes on the board, with every 3 goals average we score in a game, with every minute we play as this leagues best team, the more attractive this football club becomes to potential buyers. You must be mad to overlook a team that is going in exactly the right direction on the playing field.
