Match Thread - Mansfield Town v Port Vale

Featured Replies

I haven’t seen the match but heard the  first half was good second was obviously terrible. Result says it all not good at all.
what I did like though an this sounds daft after 3-0 defeat is the fact the manager had the minerals to come over to the fans an admit what went wrong it shows he cares an he’s promised he’ll sort it out. I do believe he will, takes some bottle do that In front of us unhappy lot it was never ever going to be a quick fix never were rock bottom for a reason. I just hope we can somehow manage to stay in the division. It’s look very slim at the moment but I’m not giving up just yet with the run of fixtures we have coming up but it’s not rocket science we do need to start winning alot of our games an fast.

We’re just not very good and we’re pretty much relegated in January.

Even when we play okay (first half today), we don’t put the ball in the net, so it’s pointless.

We’ve won four league games, two of those against ten men.

The most annoying thing about today and i aint even watched is that for 45 mins we should be 2 up im hearing ,and we end up conceding a goal and collapsing , and we have lost because of mistakes ,ive seen there 3rd goal crikey Amos you are poor in fairness its a whipped ball in whats gone in top corner

I think because of the lack of character when falling a goal behind id be putting majority of players on the transfer list if can get rid in JAN please do how many more managers are some players going go through so to speak

If you going down you go down all guns blazing ,as soon as concede is when you look at the players you need well going 1 down then not even having a go too  equalise then losing 3 -0 ,not the kind of characters needed .

Football clubs are built on characters ,strong winners

Im going through the squad and thinking these players havent the heart or the balls play for Vale

Its there in Black and White .

Ojo third or fourth relegation

Clark second successive relegation in league 1

I could go on but im totally losing interest

On the plus side at least Brady was only given an 18 month contract
So if things go up again there won't be a big payout , mate
Agreed the owners didn't act quickly enough and buried there heads in the sand
And they repeated the same mistake when Bing was manager , tbh
Darren should've bin binned off end of Oct
And Darren Ferguson should have been appointed
So imagine, Ferguson is manager, wins two Cup games and then loses to Mansfield. What do you say? Wrong choice?

Get Brady in

Anyone slating Brady is absolutely wrong, he’s won 2 of 3 games and this is not his squad in any way, of everyone at the club Brady is the least responsible for this mess.

Today was a completely fragile mentality which is from the last few months, 12 minutes from cruising and looking good to go and win the game to being on the end of a pasting, just like Stockport, just like Bolton in the league.

Thats long term damage to this squad which is going to take a lot of work, possibly some fresh personnel and time.

I genuinely believe Brady is the right man to bring us back and back in a better shape than Moore has. Let’s not turn on him for someone else’s mess and drive him out in the summer and give him a chance with his own squad.

The reality is and we won’t like it but this is pretty much a repair job for next season in League Two than a likely Great escape, I hope it happens but if as it likely will be the case,  relegation this season that fault will fall at a few peoples door, Brady’s is not one of them.

How the hell has Amos spilled that “shot” for their second goal?  Unforgivable, and it’s absolutely killed us.  At 1-0 down we’re still in the game, although very much second best, with time to regroup.  In fairness, as much as we were on top first half, Mansfield were creating chances.  Second half,  Clough has got his changes spot on, whilst our changes seemed to weaken us.  Johnson leaving has left a hole, Headley can’t defend and Gordon’s not fully fit, although will be a better option if we stick with 4 at the back.  Curtis leaving has left us with Cole or Waine playing out wide in the front 3.  One thing’s for sure, when we beat Mansfield in the final at Wembley we had a much tougher team.  We lost the battle second half today.

The best thing Brady can do, is smoke out the players who simply aren't good enough to where the shirt. Which shouldn't take to long if he's done his homework before taking on the position. Time for a rebuild thanks to none other than the clown previously in charge who for some insane reason was hired on a 5 year term. Incompetence from top to bottom. Circus music ensues.

Deborah, Waine,Faal, Brown, Ruari (pains me to include him). There's 5 who could go and we wouldn't even notice.

You miss my point entirely.

You plod along with the “give the guy a chance” etc etc etc.

The same old rhetoric.

I merely stated we have employed a man who has the same win ratio over 200 games than Moore had with us!!

Like it or not it’s a fact and he had a long time to build his squad at Northampton.
Now you can get embroiled in his talk and get excited by how he speaks but ultimately I see no evidence from what he has done in the game that he can make us successful at league one level.

If you can, then I’m all for hearing it.

What else are we to do ! Do we give up now ?  You believe that Brady has no chance what so ever of giving us any success at all. Not many followers there for you. You wont even give him a chance and see what he can offer.

There are few managers around that could turn this squad into a success. Its so unbalanced its a  laughable. Yes i will continue to support them at Vale Park, fortunately i have not reached your level yet where i stop attending. Am i happy, absolutely not. Have stated my views on the squad for the last 4 seasons and i believe we were lucky last season. A season of poor performances but we gained promotion. A season too soon i think for Carol and her team.

Every Vale supporter should be behind Brady " embroiled in his talk and excited by how he speaks " whats wrong with you. Let him bring some players in or do you expect Carol to read your post and get rid of him tomorrow.

Decent first half performance apart from goals. Cole, Brown missed out there. Suppose we should have played Stockley and Waine, certain to be goals then. Two up and game won ??

Seriously.....

Amos or Gucci. Bet all fans are 50 / 50 there

Back four as good as we have currently [ No for Headley from me ]

Three in midfield - No goals in any of them for me but decent first half. Croasdale not up to league 1 standard, never was. Shipley should not be in team.

Front three. Not for me. Playing 30 yards apart  from each other Brown ? other option fans asking for Waine ? What a choice !!!

What team would you have selected today !

We need players. At least lets see what Brady can do.

Dont think we will get the players we need to remain in league 1 though. More likely will be setting up for league 2

I would have had Darren Ferguson.

I aren’t arsed about all this waffle and coaching crap. Brady is well in on data. He’s sold himself and will continue to do it until the brainwashed realise we aren’t winning enough football matches.

Put Brady and Ferguson in a room. Look at their win ratios in their career. Look at what they have won. It’s not even an argument.

Carol is a sucker for data.

I promise you now, watch this go south and very fast.
Come March you will want Brady out. The majority will.

What the <ovf censored> is having a conversation with fans for?!!!!

Unprofessional. Way too emotive.

The clubs in a mess.

What if Ferguson wouldnt have the Vale. He may have been no 1 target.

Looking into my crystal ball

Ferguson wins at Mansfield 👍

On what planet are things going to improve with a man in charge with a win ratio in league one and league two the same as Darren Moore?

Or are you another hopefull person listening to his waffle about coaching?

To get promoted and to not be relegated, in any season, you need to win football matches and have a manager in place to win football matches!!

It’s a real simple recipe.

John Brady isn’t the answer.

I will leave it there. You will all see come the next few weeks.

This club is a mess.
A proper <ovf censored> mess. With a clueless CEO employed by a clueless owner.

Argue between yourselves for 3 months.

I will state now that he will be a bigger failure than Darren Moore.

Cheerio.

WOW as a Vale fan, i wish you had said this to Carol two weeks ago

That makes no sense. Come on, what if it was Ferguson and we lost today. What would you say in here. Let's look into my crystal ball. "Wrong choice, Vale should have got..... as manager." Dead easy for you.

I'm struggling to find players to retain ATM after the Moore dynasty. Even croasdale who was a consistent stand out player seemed to be jaded in his play today. Byers divides opinion , yet he seems to be made of Weetabix. Real low point for us as a club.
