Match Thread - Lincoln City v Port Vale

I was going to go but I just can’t. My next away is Luton and with all the costs associated with that, I think that’s a fair enough sacrifice for now. I still want a win, I want Moore to prove me wrong but that would be a miracle and that won’t be happening.

It's up to DM to start getting results now. The club have publicly backed him and his staff to turn things around.

No league win since September. Tough game on Saturday to spring an upset!

Newly promoted teams often rely on a good start to the season while the feel-good factor of promotion and the habit of winning is still there. That's gone now, a distant memory! (2 points from 21 we managed, despite playing well in the majority of those games!)

It's 3 points in the last 21 (I think) but we're so short of confidence, I honestly can't see how he's going to turn it around!

Much as I hate to write this I have to say the best thing for this club is we fail to win on Saturday and preferably we get thumped. This seems the only way to bring forward the inevitable sacking of Moore. The more games we have without Moore the better our chances of survival. A win on Saturday only prolongs the hurt to December. It's an awful position to be in for a fan but I'm staying well away until we get the change.

And sadly this is what it has come to, sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind & as much as I never want Vale to lose a small part of me thinks like yourself it would be a blessing in disguise if we did get pumped Saturday

Nah, even if we lost 8-0, he’d still stay.

So if we lose on Saturday which is very likely we just have the same conversations on here again, then again when we lose the next. Meanwhile, the powers that be keep their heads in the sand? Genuinely so disheartened with Vale at the moment.

So a good thumping does wonders for player confidence?

I don’t want us to lose but we’re getting good thumping most weeks anyway. The players’ confidence is already completely and utterly shot.

Having a new manager as early as possible will be more of a boost to players than a win on Saturday in my opinion. Under Moore we are doomed, the sooner he goes the better. Nice bloke but it's a cut throat business and he'll get another job based on promotion last season.

I think you’re working under the assumption that DM would be gone if we lost.

I think with it being an away game the reaction will be a little easier to hide away from. The last home game where fans made it clear what we think is the kind of pressure needed to bring the sacking forward.

An away game, fewer supporters there, easier for the club to pretend it is a minority.

Failure to win or score again at home however and it couldn't be clearer.

I'm wondering if we need to arrange to get fans to take arrows to games to point the players in the direction of the goal.

Seen this on a YouTube clip, can you imagine the coverage this would get if it happened ? that would take some explaining / defending by the club .

I disagree entirely, away followings tend too be more vociferous as they are banded together more closely, they tend to be diehards who will follow the Vale wherever they can (that's NOT dissing Home fans who cant go away by the way) and the club should take their views more seriously if you ask me.

As for cardboard cut-outs, well I understand the concept and it does have a comical value, but our strikers are more likely to target the arrows than they are the goal.

I dont think there confidence is anywhere as near as bad as what Liverpools players are after watching them last night at home they are so easy too win against ,we are not

Lets do a little goal attempts by bottom club Vale last game i ciuld rinse and repeat most games  but havent the time its same old story .

V Plymouth 13 goal attempts 3 clear cut chances no goals

Our neighbours v Charlton 14 goal attempts 2 crosses 1 well taken goal 1 clear cut chance 3 goals ,1 attempt more everything going for them .

The difference is CONFIDENCE

We havent in general being able finish all season .

Yet won at Birmingham /Barnsley very good sides too there 0 goal attempts on target

WE NEED TOO SCORE and get confidence from doing so if we do we can fly up that league .

We quite frankly deserve better but we are wrong end of table as luck doesnt favour  the bottom sides

Thats my opinion anyway  if got the goals our start the game play deserves everyones buzzing, but instead we miss everything, and somehow give the opposition the lead ,after that the response well its proven its not at all good enough time and time again and it will cost Moore his job eventually for sure .
