We've signed a player, Grant Ward - hasn't played competitively since being relegated with Bristol rovers last year.

Grant Ward - 31 year old midfielder signed until the end of the season.

Hopefully it works out for him and us but it does seem like we are scraping the barrel a little bit

I was looking at him on transfermarkt yesterday.

Have to say far as midfielders go I wasn't massively impressed with whats available on free agent.

This is definitely a big shot in the dark transfer considering lack of playing time and who his last club was.

It is a strange one because surely it's going to take him a while to get match fit

RE, his time at the Gas:

On 3 June 2023, Ward signed a new two-year contract. Injury issues once again returned for Ward during the 2023–24 season, making just three appearances across a three-month spell from late August to late November before another injury suffered in early January ruling him out until March.

Following relegation, Ward was released at the end of the 2024–25 season.

Not great reading, just what we need, an injury table friend for Byers.

Beggars can’t be choosers.

Tbh with some of these signings I get the impression that Jon is already planning ahead for next season.

The only thing he can help with is preparing the players with relegation experience but I thought we had that covered with Ojo! I have seen this guy play and he looks like a pretty unremarkable league 2 player to me who lacked pace and was deservedly released by Rovers in my view.

We have also signed Onel Hernandez who I said recently we had no chance of getting given he's played in the Championship for Norwich and Charlton.
