What it does show is Carol is still prepared to invest which is crucial next season if we are to bounce back.

Scattergun and desperation are the two words that come to mind. Strategy? What strategy?

Unfortunately while Hernandez is exciting, it has been our clumsy defending that has really cost us recently

I would like to see him switch Campbell to LCB where he has played before and maybe Magloire in there as well,I would still like to see Humphreys in midfield as well at least until Byers is back

Hernandez was first linked to us a couple of weeks ago. Not sure if you mean desperation on the part of the club or player? My guess is the player was hoping to get another Championship gig.

Bottom line we are desperate. We pretty much need automatic promotion form for a group of players who are currently on track for our worst season in terms of results.  There is a strategy.  The manager clearly wants to play 4 3 3. We've signed a left winger and someone whose played right wing and as an attacking midfield player in a 3. Time will tell if the strategy and or players signed are right. If both players has some gas in the tank they do fit into what the manager is trying to achieve.

Looking at the players we have bought in Archer and Campbell have certainly not been worse than what we had.

Just does my head in Brian....the lad from Bristol hasn't even kicked a ball for us yet and people are saying he's injury prone he'll end up keeping Byers company in the treatment room ... just gotta love Vale fans ffs 🤔

You can say my name if you're aiming this at me.

I hope both transfers help us, but they are also the definition of a club in desperation.

You can be realistic about the club's chances and have positive and negative things to say at the same time.

It's unfortunate though it's come to this. Because it didn't have to if the club did things earlier.

So two forwards, two wingers, a midfielder and two defenders brought in. Have I missed anything else? It must be slim pickings for the Vale in the position were in. But fair play. Garrity out for a period of time? We cant rely on him. Byers out till the end of February? We could do with him back. Loads of people have been calling for two wingers on our pitch. So there we go. Onwards and (sort of) upwards!

Hernandez has certainly been a very good footballer, hopefully he has at least one more cameo in him. I suspect he knows Darnbrough which is probably why he's here. Very much a left winger. Be interesting to see how his performances compare to Marvin Johnson. In his prime he was the better of the two and both were better than Ronan Curtis.

Grant Ward has been a very capable footballer. Undeniable he's had some injury issues. When he's been at his best he's  been a good Championship player. His career stalled pretty much after a bad injury at Ipswich.

Will it be enough to keep us up? Probably not. Potentially we'll see some better football.

Because of this, I'd like to think that we can look forward to attempting to play more football to replace hoofball, as there can be no excuse for not having the quality to do so.

Campbell played leftback for England age group sides. The physicality of playing centrehalf at league 1 is another level to under 23s football.  If we are sticking with 4 at the back I'd stick with him at leftback.

Getting the codgers in!

Most of his time out on loan and with Everton has been at centreback, early to judge from one game but looked like a LCB as opposed to a full back, according to Everton site 86 of his 100 games he has played either on loan or under 21 games have been in the middle of the defence.  I'd like to see him play in the middle, think Connor Hall is having a poor time and needs replacing.

I know it won't happen but following the 2 signings made today which I am happy about, I would be making a call to Marvin Johnson, we are well stocked at LB but no one has the quality he had from his brief time here.  He thought that he would get fixed up, he has not, still remains without a club, if we were able to, an 11 below I feel could get some decent results, not been enough to stay up but would at least give us some hope for next year and try to get some positivity back.

John Humphreys Campbell Johnson
