A really positive signing. Some on here saying that he is a target man but I’m not sure that’s the case. Used to be very strong on the ball and have real pace. I’m sure at 34, pushing 35, that pace has gone but if we play two up front then we should be okay.

Only negative is that I was really hoping that Shipley left and that we got someone else with some legs in midfield. Ojo and Crossdale have struggled when teams have midfield runners, as happened on the Exeter game.

Not sure I agree with the terrific games, maybe played well at Barnsley but in total prior to Exeter he had only started 4 league games and 1 sub appearance in the league.  Give me Mitch over Gabriel any day of the week, for me we have had players leave who did put the effort in, the likes of Curtis, Cole, Mitch and Paton if he goes I could never fault their effort and still stuck with those players who shall we say effort can be found wanting.

Curtis and Cole had bad attitudes and didn't want to be here...that's why they both left and rightly so.

I'm not aiming this personally at you but Vale fans have an historical penchant for favouring workrate over ability. It's why players like Constantine and even Byers at the moment are not rated because they don't run around like a loon. I thought Gabriel had 2 or 3 really good games in a row once he'd settled and got up to full fitness..he had a great game at Wimbledon. He's probably not up to full fitness after being out for nearly 4 months and perhaps isn't quite committing yet to everything.

To move forwards, we need players with quality on the ball and Gabriel is far superior to Mitch. Effort and workrate are great up to a point, but they don't impact on the game.
