Summer transfer rumours and speculation

Exactly, the fact they’re under contract doesn’t mean they can’t be moved on.

But it does make it more difficult (and probably costly if a deal is struck to pay off part of their contract) to do so.

If we really wanted a player off the books we’d find a way. You never know though another club could come in for players too.

It's about time we re-signed Theo Robinson isn't it?

Tyler Walker must get a mention at some point

Different targets for L1 or another promotion bid ? Otherwise funding likely to be there, some players maybe tempted away if not promoted. A different set-up so concentrate on the next game until we can relax.

Maybe. Although we were told when Headley signed that they didn't think they could get him in L2 and we're going to wait till summer to try untill he indicated he would be keen. Maybe some players will come regardless of division.

Money, success, good boss, good work mates.

Lots of chat about Smith.

IMO Smith is a lower end League 1 defender.

I also don't think people are 'knocking' Smith for his current performances or being disrespectful. Just, as fans, we can see where the improvements need to be made if we are to aim for 'mid-table' League 1.

Personally, if we go up, I think that we have a really good nucleus of a squad that could complete in 'mid-table' League 1. But not when it comes to the CBs. When need to invest in the back 3 CBs.

We are in a decent/strong position if we go up because although you'd probably want to strengthen in all areas (if you can) the midfield is decent, so are the forwards and we have decent wing backs. Money should be concentrated on the CBs.

Agreed. I like Smith, always have done and he’s probably a low end league 1 player / top league 2. Him being out of contract and not always being in favour under Moore just points to him being let go IMO. I think if we go up we will move Hennegan on as well and look to bring in 3 central defenders to compete with Debrah and Hall. Agree with the money, it has to be concentrated on the centre backs and for me strong keeper, Amos is decent but not a league 1 keeper imo

In my view Debrahs form has mirrored Vale's this season, so either he plays well in a good team and bad in a bad team, or we play well when he does.

Our worst run of the season was when he was in and out of the team.

I genuinely think he has been a key reason for our two very good runs this season, he is integral to how we commit wing backs forward when we have the ball and also more recently, his chips up to the strikers have been so effective.

He has areas to work on for sure, but I think we have a decent player on our hands there.

Tough at the back, all have attributes. Carol will need a big cheque book, but that wont guarantee success.

As above got to get out of Lg 2 before, spending money (ask Lardies) is not always the way.

Youth is doing better now, I understand not all are 1st team ready, but that is important.

May need a good loan signing. Rips going was an issue and you build from the back then, so depends on the pot.

Just texted BJ he is 77 he wont sign, too busy, Hoppers said his glass was half full and well I am knackered.

We obviously need a keeper and for me we need another playmaker type in midfield because byers has been both underwhelming and injury prone I'd add two decent CB a striker and a LWB.

Quality over quantity this time rather than the total overhaul we had last summer.

I seem to recall carol saying as much before the season started when she said, something along the lines of, the plan was to bring in players who are already league one standard.

All depends on the retained list and whether anyone under contract is tempted away.

He played every game for Wigan when they won the League One title a couple of years ago.

Lowe played in the Premiership, doesn’t mean we should be playing him.

I still can’t fathom why folk are commenting on current first team players, all of whom are absolutely vital to see us push over the finishing line.  Not saying they read this topic but you never know how cheap talk can travel.  Why not leave it until promotion is mathematically assured?  There must be plenty of mileage in naming players we’d like to sign rather than players we’d like rid of.

I've got a whole host very unpopular outs when the season finished - hold my council until I know which division we are in.
