What have you done for me lately?

Every player has a ceiling especially when you are going for a 3rd promotion in a row. Going to be some bargains in the summer from Wrexham so they can have a high turnover of players to compete in the Champ.

The reality of football.

It is, although we signed the likes of Foyle, Aspin and Glover from teams with money who deemed then not good enough for the next level. Sometimes having money allows you to sign players who can do what you want, rather than building a team that can allow players to do what they can. Carlisle have spent a fortune on players over the last 3 windows and never built a team. I suspect Carlisle are one of the teams with a bigger budget than us. There will be good players available from Wrexham and Carlisle if they go down. Similarly to picking up Croasdale it's about working out which ones you can get the best out of based on how you play. Stockport used him as a holding midfielder and his distribution probably isn't good enough to play that role in modern football.  He's doing a very good job for us more as an 8.

What's the difference?

EFL present to the clubs,, a table of club`s relative spends within their league, but not the amounts.

Yes which provides the basis of wages as % of turnover part of the Salary Cost Protocol Management.

As I understand it EFL have powers to audit clubs homework.

He played every game for Wigan when they won the League One title a couple of years ago.

He did. But based off this season do you think he’s a league 1 starting keeper? He’s fine for this level but remember he was signed as a back up league 2 keeper. He’s not a starting keeper for league 1 and I’m certain Moore will sign someone if we go up

I prefer him to the league 2 keeper he was the back up to 👍👍 and would put him against Jack Stevens and Thomas Holy in league 1 any day of the week

That Dosent make him a league 1 keeper though. Stevens and Holy were down right atrocious

He is for me mate.

Solid if not spectacular, happy to receive the ball right or left foot, which is rare in lower leagues, distribution overall is decent and doesn’t  make many errors. When you need him he comes up with a big save. Has good temperament for the position.

Looks to me like  he organises the defence very well.

You could argue he’s not consistent with balls in the box where you’d expect him to take it but I don’t see that as a problem when you have tall CB’s like Heneghan,Deb & Hall.

Best keeper we have had since Alnwick, although I would concede that’s a low bar except Scott Brown who was a better shot stopper than Amos.

We certainly need another GK to push him - can’t help think we took Broome to have a look at him with a view to next season.

i didnt say it does, merely that he is better than some of those we had last time we were in league 1 😘😘😘😘😘

We can always put a call out to my beautiful purple prince 💜💜💜💜💜💜

If we go up then we should be going in for a good keeper IMO, someone who would be deemed to be our number one or someone who will be competing for the number one spot alongside Amos.

Amos has done a decent job and I wouldn’t be worried if he is our first choice next season but if we are looking to improve in positions then this is one area we should be.

Amos has done a decent job, but I would want a new keeper in the summer, if Amos then establishes as a number 1 ahead of a new keeper and earns that then I would have no issue with it but at the moment he doesn't really have much competition.

Carlisle has been a disaster really. I remember looking at the transfer activity in L1 and thinking they were preparing a squad to be ultra competitive in L2. I think they underestimated the difficulty in changing a losing mentality in a squad  and made a huge mistake in managerial appointments.

They’re a very strange case. Think it’s the classic example of what happens if you get the managerial appointment wrong. When they sacked Simpson their owners prioritised getting in a manager who was more about having a philosophy of possession based football than getting results which was a bold decision for a team already struggling down the bottom. Paid the price for that.

I think it’s poor management at the top.

No plan - you can’t go and recruit in January and the summer playing how Simpson wanted to play and then just think a new manager can get the same L2 players playing thinking they are Man City.

What a thought was really bad.. after they beat Barrow away recently Sam Lavelle came out and said they shouldn’t be at the bottom as they have the best squad in L2! What a ridiculous thing to say after 3/4 of the season had gone.

Your record says what you are.

Sad to say a big lower league club back in the National League.
