Summer transfer rumours and speculation

I know we don't play with wingers, but I'm envious of Stevenage signing Chem Campbell from Wolves. 22yo winger, scored 7 in 42 last season in L1 on loan at Reading.

Just highlights how tough next season will be.

How can they possibly know that?

@1 I simply posted the link to the interview …

Matt Hancock does come across as sensible and knowledgeable.

Fans can make up their own minds.

Great news that we have signed Rico, brilliant potential and for me he will be even better next season.  For me the signings Stevenage made prove what a tough league it will be next season, they are going to be mid-table at best probably lower half, and Campbell at league 1 is a great signng along with Jordan Houghton from Plymouth, a regular in the Championship for them and turned down a deal with them.  2 good pieces of business so far, moving forward I feel we need another keeper, 2 centre-backs, a midfielder and a striker.

How old is Moore....?

About 50

Great signing is Rico, always feel like he ups the pace and always has an impact. I think he will develop and be more than just an impact sub in League 1.

I think that becoming more than an impact sub will be the litmus test for the player and the club. He's 22 at the start of the season and probably one of the 5 most naturally talented players I've seen at Vale Park.  A lot of players do what I could do 40 plus years ago; just a bit better. He does things I could only dream of doing and makes it look easy. He needs to show he can sustain it for most of a game and Moore needs to then find a way to accommodate him within a team structure. He has the potential to turn average into special; let's hope he achieves it.

Hear hear! His close ball control is something special but as you say Moore needs to find a way to accommodate him and most importantly, free that potential.

It’s up to the player to force his way into the team through his performances in training and when he gets a chance off the bench. At any team he ll have to fit into a team structure especially during the 88 minutes of the game when a player doesn’t have the ball.  It’s going to be great to see how he goes.

I make it GK,CB,ST and a couple of loans to supplement the squad at CB,CM then I think we are good to go.

It's a great signing and perfect addition to the squad.

I do think though that the formation we landed on doesn't necessarily lend itself to attacking CMs or wingers. This is why we saw him come on as an impact sub quite a bit, which in turn never gave him enough minutes to build up his fitness and last a full game. A bit of a catch-22.

Hopefully he gets a lot of minutes pre season and we see the kind of 'bulk up' that Walters did last season, and plant the season before that.

In any case I really like Rico. Initially I wondered whether he would play ahead of benicio who seemed to have more outright skill/flair. How it turned out was whilst Rico less explosive, much more dependable, could hold shape in the team, but also really good ball control and ability to turn and drive forward.

DMs second full season as he shapes the squad. Young players to develop  in a more attacking style now the pressure of an immediate promotion is off?

Moore will want 4 strikers he did last season and he did at Wednesday
So you are probably looking at an experienced league 1 striker and a young loan striker

I agree we will want 4. I'm assuming Paton is given an opportunity in pre season, if he leaves on loan then I think you're correct in another loan striker.

A rumour love it. If true I find this interesting the level of player and clubs we are fishing with.

Shows which pool we are in.
