Fleetwood v Port Vale match thread - 8th March

Three point from the next two away games would be a very good return! Let hope we can start to score a few goals ! we are going to need them. We need a bit more from a few of the players! Its amazing how much we miss Ben.

I think Walters was running up and down the pitch during the warm ups.

That is more than Harper can do straight away.

Amos

Clark Sang Smith Hall John

Croasdale Byers

Chislett

Curtis Tolaj

Or debs in for Sang he’s done well recently.

Harper, Hart and Shorrock aren’t good enough. Shorrock in my view will be but as I’ve said numerous times he need a loan move. We can’t keep expecting a 17 year old who’s not a natural defender to impress.
Shame to have no natural left footer at LWB but as above I don’t think they’re good enough, we’re going to really miss Headley.

Harper is fine, watch the 5 minute Sky highlights and focus on him. Superb movement for his goal attempts, knew exactly when to stop when chasing their player towards our box to avoid giving away free kicks. A more alert player than shorrock would have made him look much better

He was decent first half, made some good runs and looked dangerous. Probably guilty of taking the wrong option in the final 3rd as were the whole side. Then reverted back to be bone idle in the 2nd. He has ability there is no question on that but he’s too lazy. I feel like he rates himself far above this division and struts about the pitch. If the offside wasn’t given I think he would have conceded a penalty as well.

Midfield 3 is too negative. One of them needs replacing Saturday for Chislett. Croasdale looked knackered last night so you could argue that he needs resting.

Shows glimpses. Has moments where he looks really good but then looks terrible for 30 mins. Suppose that’s why he ended up at Burton & is now playing his stuff in the basement division. Frustrating because there’s definitely a player in there who has an eye for goal as we’ve seen already this season. Thought he was unlucky with his effort & denied by a good save

Mates a burton fan and said the exact same thing. Trots around the pitch like he’s gods gift, shows glimpses of ability but the games to just seem to pass him by. He was happy he left them.

As others have said, a very difficult game. Fleetwood are flying at the moment I would take a draw there all day.

feel sure a couple of teams above us will slip up again.

they beat Crewe easily on Tuesday night and we weren’t very good against Harrogate

We go there and show we are the  business.

Sold out away end should demand every player comes crawling off thst pitch at Fleetwood.

Another 5 -2 be good certainly didn't enjoy last time I went a mediocre 1 -0 defeat .

3-0 last year watching it at home anyone think we were playing Real Madrid how good we made them look

Big big game the fans are there let's hope the players turn up and show Vale fans the reason why they have spent there hard earned on them

In car last night dropped 2 m8 and me nephew going  on about how many away games they attended 2 going Fleetwood nephew ain't I said I've been 1 lol they have been loads .

Fair play to anyone who goes away games they deserve a medal.

Sums him up - a moments player. Does something every 20 minutes, otherwise anonymous. It isn't enough.

Him and Byers fade into the background for 15-20 minutes at a time. Garrity, for his flaws, is all-action and is always 'doing something', which is what you need in midfield.

I think he does more than Byers, he doesn't stop moving around the pitch, just doesn't seem to get the pass he wants at times but he covers a lot of ground.

Tough game against a team led by possibly the best manager in the division, they will see Port Vale as one of the teams they can catch to grab a play off place, anything but 3 points is no good for them so could be a decent game.

The sooner we get Stockley back on the pitch the better and it's obvious to almost everyone that the three midfielders are too similar to play together.

How many headers do we win in midfield ? How many mis-placed passes ? Corners and throw-ins - how many goals have come from them ? Free kicks too.

How many goals have our central defenders chipped in with ?

The list is endless and yet somehow Automatic Promotion is still in our grasp !

Tolaj last night did more in midfield than he did up front, maybe if Stockley does come back play Tolaj behind a front two of Stockley and Hackford.

Assuming Stockley is still missing, what's happened to Walters ?, surely he should be match fit by now, maybe he could play behind the front two  with Croasdale and Byers as defensive midfielders ?

It's going to be a tough game on Saturday and another next Tuesday. 3 points would be a reasonable return from these two games in my view.

And that's me with my glass half full !

Last night none of the back 5 have scored a league goal this season.

Harper I think has one, Byers one, Croasdale maybe 3.

And we wonder why with 8 of the starting X1 scoring about 5 between them that we didn't win.

I’m afraid we’ll get found out in this game. Fleetwood wont miss the kind of chances that Harrogate had last night. I fear a 3-1 defeat.

I like this side. If Chissy can get his head on it, he's the player to link the midfield to the strikers. For me, that's what we lacked a lot last night. Decent looking wing backs as well, just Clarke needs to get his match sharpness back.
