I must admit that I hated the bright ones at first, but it's grown on me now. 👍

Yep. Horrendous at first, it’s a slow burner though 😍

Massive over-reaction from most to a narrow defeat.

I think being soaked wet through on a miserable December lunchtime has increased the annoyance of the match going fans. For the armchair lot (the group to which I belong nowadays), it was a nothing game where both sides huffed and puffed to various degrees in awful conditions, which looked destined to end 0-0. Their big striker scored a freak header from a corner, our big strikers watched from the bench as we booted the ball out of play from our corners. Fine margins.

Our short passing was poor across the team, we didn't create enough and some of the lads looked jaded in the last 30 mins (again). However, defensively we gave them nothing bar a free header from a corner, we created a similar amount of chances as them (few) and the midfield battle was tit-for-tat. Their subs didn't make much of an impact, neither did ours.

Moore needs to stop tinkering quite so much, but the wheels haven't exactly fallen off. We've got some tricky matches coming up but our points total means we'll still be in the mix come January... when Carol may flex her financial muscle once more and we tweak the squad again - a luxury some of the other sides currently towards the top won't have.

Easy to say from my armchair but chill out guys - don't turn this into a typical Vale fan mid season 'wobble' - we'll be absolutely fine.

Watched the goal a few times. IMHO the way keepers are trained to palm balls away is the culprit for this goal. I think if Ripley had tried to catch it rather than palm it it wouldn’t have been a goal. He may have dropped it but then he’s got the chance to drop on it.
For us old gets it was a typical game against Walsll lose 1-0 to a spawny goal.
for the cabbages debating Moores future perhaps visit the incinerator to view the pile of ex managers and the pile of cack it’s left behind.

We hate Walsall and we hate Walsall on repeat!

JJ - you clearly know nothing about goalkeeping.  If you think Rippers should catch that when its hit with force at the roof of the net from about 8 yards away then you need to think again m8.  He did REALLY well to get two hands on it - he tried to turn it over the bar and it got blown back into play.  If anything he got too much on it ...

BUT, we all love to blame Ripley; the true culprit is Cover who loses the battle with their centre forward.

If you knew anything about reading it would help. Also don’t start an argument with an insult. I played in goals for years and no GK would try and do that. Keepers are taught to palm balls away in the modern game until it’s an instinct

I wasn’t blaming Ripley but this particular methodology.  I would agree that the defence were also at fault but was commenting on the keeper.

Carry on raging Norbert

Anyone who’s bet on us to win the league did it at their own risk, we aren’t entitled to walk the league. Yes we should be there or there abouts with the squad we’ve assembled & right now we are even if we haven’t been very good for a few weeks now. Would you not just be happy with automatic promotion mate? I certainly would

Moi aussi. What's all this hysteria about losing a game? We still look OK and on track to be promoted. That's where all the focus needs to be and it doesn't mean we have to win every game, or be top of the division.

Sorry if I'm going OT but the match itself has probably been analysed to death already. Personnally I didn't think we were quiet "at it" but lost a scrappy one in bad conditions in which Walsall weren't greatly better but perhaps just a bit more streetwise at times/dealt with the conditions better.  It was another game however where it hasn't been particularly good fair in the last month or so and tactically we seemed to get it wrong for longer periods than we got it right.

I think the form over the last month(performance wise) has been a tad concerning considering the 2 months previous at least.  We've limped over the line in several games against avg-poor opposition and aren't creating or having the chances we had previously.   Is 1 or no shots on target(at home) or in any game acceptable? Particularly with the squad we've assembled and the money spent.

Again I have also said before that stat can be a bit of a misnoma as blocked/deflected shots aren't always counted even if they are heading for the goal and we have had a number of those plus players firing wide when they could/should have hit the target but the number we create as a whole has certainly gone down since the Wimbledon match.

Following on from that you could also bring the tactics into question culminating in none of our recognised forwards starting on Saturday in a 1st vs 2nd clash? Not sure what that was about. Ok Stockley may have had a knock but why don't Paton and Tolaj seem to be trusted particularly at home?

Not a dig at the manager or calling for his head by any means, all teams have bad spells even Man City.  But it does raise some questions if the current "slump" carries on too much longer have we been worked out by the opposition or have we been suffering since the lack of Garrity and Byers in CM?  If that's the case does the manager have a plan B for example?
