Agree. Another “bulky” keeper. Remember when the ball used to bounce off Tomlinson,s chest?

How about we just score some more goals against noddy sides, like other teams with good players generally try to do?

You can blame Ripley for one individual error but ultimately, the line up, the style of play and the overall negativity at home is down to one man and one man alone.

And it isn't Ripley!!!

To be fair mate Ripley partly was to blame he should have caught that shot and the managers cautious tactics didn't help why oh why set up with 5 at the back we were playing Colchester united not bloody newcastle united for me the jury is still out on DM

I'm still not convinced by the cautious set up he continues to employ he seems stubborn in his ways 🙈

My concern is we are treading water around 5th-10th with some unconvincing wins/draws, with a squad that most managers in the league would trade theirs for in a heartbeat. We should be smashing teams like last night at home to prove we can roll with the big spenders when they come along. I think the next 2 games will be interesting: expensive squads, expected to do well, picking up points and scoring goals.

If Micky Adams was manager we'd be top of the league with this squad , deffo .

I didn't say he wasn't partly to blame... But the majority of the blame I feel should ultimately lie with Moore.

He chose a loanee in front of players such as Curtis and Paton.

Everybody loves Paton but the manager. This game would have been ready made for Ruari.

Moore sets out five at the back... It won't work.

The team sat back invited pressure after the goal. We have seen this before it doesn't work. Make the players watch the Fleetwood win at Walsall... Maybe Moore may learn something.

Only 4500 fans last night but they deserve better.

What’s been your best Rico Richards moment so far?

Not digging the lad out but there’s no way in this world should Paton be sat on the bench over him or Hackford.

Darren Moore may just be the most frustrating manager we will ever have.

He's morphing into a version of Aspin and Crosby with his safety first tactics , mate

Frustrating game, first half they were a disgrace but we have to accept that teams dont want to go toe to toe with us at Vale Park, especially the more limited ones with our budget and squad so will play the spoiling tactics (all be it that was another level last night), what we need to do is find a way to win but I felt we'd done the hard part, we had Colchester right where we wanted them when we went 1-0 up as it would force them to speed it up and come out, what we did wrong was then started messing about, slowing it down ourselves almost complacent in our play, we should especially with the attacking changes we'd made at half time gone for the kill especially knowing their defence was vulnerable and now more exposed as they tried to get into it rather than sit back and slow it down. If we'd done that we probably score another couple. Something to learn from certainly.

Have yet to see it back but in the ground looked a poor one to concede, looked similar to the Tolaj offside goal in the keeper pushing it back into the danger zone.

Big concern is Byers as he is the key footballer in our midfield, without him we will need to find a way but it wasn't working with Garrity and Croasdale as that gets over run every time and could get messy Saturday, hopefully it was more impact and he is back at the weekend but looks less likely to happen.

6 Unbeaten so a positive there but now 2 real tough away trips, missed opportunity as well with Gillingham, Barrow and Walsall all losing last night.

The same Fleetwood that have twice thrown away a 2-0 lead this season?

Remind me the last time Vale hit six away. You don't get anything without a gamble now and again.

Ironically, it was Vale, under Moore, who threw away a two goal lead against Fleetwood with minutes to spare at home, a game which may have lead to Vale staying in League one.

Surprised you use that Fleetwood Stat as a counter argument all considering!

I’m not having a pop at Richards the player. I’m sure he will go on to have a good career. I’m more concerned Paton didn’t get on over him.
That’s criminal.
Paton is on our books. He’s our player. He’s scored goals for us and got hung out to dry in the early games.

For me, it’s a case of Moore saying he wasn’t good enough. Which is why he wasn’t brought on. Which I don’t agree with because in the early games, Paton was sacrificed because of Moores poor game plan.

Bottom line is we are 5 unbeaten having won 3.
Ultimately with the squad we have, I flip flop every other week as to whether Darren Moore knows what he’s doing. And I can’t be the only one.

Somebody else mentioned Gareth Southgate with England. It’s probably a fair comparison. And Sheff Wed fans said don’t get excited with the football he plays.
Im not too fussed about being excited but just like Southgate he prefers to “game management” a match when we go one up.
Probably explains the Fleetwood debacle last season.
It’s all on the manager.
When it works we love it. When it doesnt, at league two level, he will come in for huge criticism.
Im still waiting to see Paton Stockley and Tolaj on from the start.
To start Hackford again tonight was a kick in the teeth to Paton but to then bring on Richards instead of him was criminal.

I’ve got a feeling it’s gonna be week by week.
Love Moore or don’t want him at the club. The bloke will become Marmite.

Paton's a proven goalscorer, like you said start the season he played him up front on his own which was bonkers he would be the perfect partner for stockley because he's pacy and plays off the shoulder When is DM going see the light😎

Imagine being Walsall and thinking beat Fleetwood and we go top and shipping 6 against them at home, imagine being Gillingham and thinking beat Grimsby and we stay top and lose 1 nil, there is some over reaction on here, Colchester are not as bad as some make out.

The concern for me is the game shifted with their subs but we didn't react very well. Payne started to run the midfield and the left-winger had a lot of joy against Cover.

The game wasn't controlled at all. I'm not even sure we were instructed to sit deep - we just didn't hold out the ball and as a result were squeezed back. We were rolling the dice, again.

With the quality of players we should be controlling home games late on, not praying that bottom half teams don't nick one. The momentum shifted, we all felt it, and we didn't do enough to keep control.

The manager is paid the big money

The buck stops with him

He dunner seem to know how to react when the opposition mix things up with subs for me that's a real concern 😬

The stats confirm this.

24 shots faced this season, 12 goals conceded. 50% save rating. 5th worst out of 26 keepers this season in L2.

He's turned into Stevens/Stone a couple of years ago.

He makes Stone look like Joe Hart in comparison, Ripley switches off too much either pull him up on it or put another keeper in his place 👌
