    Didn't Swanny rock up as a centre forward at first ? Who was about as prolific as Uche and Loft but then turned into a great defender?

    Agreed. DM more idea than me. I'm personally hoping Debbie is still on the list in DM's outbox. But if not I'll be behind Debbie still.

    Like I said before he made a big jump from non league straight into league one, so I’m a little more forgiving to give him another season myself. He was no worse than the more experienced defenders next to him some who have played in league one before & quite a bit in league two. I’d be happy see how he fairs in league two this season as a squad player

    That's doing Swan a great disservice... He scored 13 in a season playing as a centre forward for Hull City :wink:

    Such is life I grew up in the era of one of the greatest footballers in the world the great John Charles who played equally as brilliant as a centre back and centre half. Then a long came Duncan Edwards who surely would have broken all records he could play anywhere on a football pitch,Then back to the Vale Basil Hayward started as a centre back equally adept as a centre forward .Some people can only dream of seeing the players of my generation they certainly would never moan again.

Then a long came Duncan Edwards who surely would have broken all records he could play anywhere on a football pitch,Then back to the Vale Basil Hayward started as a centre back equally adept as a centre forward .Some people can only dream of seeing the players of my generation they certainly would never moan again.
    John Charles brother Mel wasn't bad, 26 goals in 60 games for Arsenal. Has Paton had a medical yet? Seen in the car park?

    I seem to remember that Albert Leake played as a centre-forward occasionally, too.
