League 2 preparation

Hoping for a new ground to visit out of one the teams in the National League and only Barnet I have been to so no doubt they will go up.  Disappointing to see that Gateshead have been barred from taking part in the play-offs, deserved their place after 46 games.

league two will make for some grim grounds to be visiting…. Wimbledon, Morecambe, Harrogate, Walsall, gillingham, Newport, Swindon, Salford, Grimsby, Colchester, crawley, barrow, Carlisle. FFS.

Wimbledon moved to a new stadium on plough lane.

I'm a ground nerd and went in October v Bradford when we were on international break. Not a bad ground.

Squirreled away amongst flats apartments and office blocks.

Little did I know I'd be attending the following season or I wouldn't of gone 🤔

The pubs by the ground ask for your match ticket to check you are a home fan otherwise can't get in.

Gateshead almost have no purpose or goal. They have reached their ceiling because of that ruling so little point coming top or in the play offs.

Agree with you.

Gateshead football teams have been through several club re-formations but there was a Gateshead AFC in the Football League from the 1930s to the 1960s and the current Gateshead team deserve their chance at gaining League status.

didnt they fork out a bit of money in january to bring a couple of players in Daz.....armstrong from Harrogate and a couple of others 🤔

Definitely had Armstrong who seemed to do very little. He was meant to be going to Wrexham I think and it fell through.

Just had quick ganders and he scored 3 in 20 for Carlisle. He has a 3 1/2 year deal so they splashed the cash definitely on him.

Carlisle have Yanks from Florida behind them, not on the scale of Wrexham though.

Seems odd Simpson quoted as saying mid table budget in L2 then ?

They didn't really sign anyone outstanding though in fairness, they signed L2 players hence their form never turned around at all.

Maybe who knows, just limiting expectations or he knows how much he will get and it will put him mid range. Main thing is how the money is spent,

One big concern I have it's not the vocal few we need to worry about but the silent majority. We need a good and honest inquest on the last two seasons. Then we need a clear plan going forward, many of the  mistakes this season have been as clear as daylight! Every man and his dog could see them, but those in power could not or would not. I am really concerned how many people will not return or renew season tickets .

I think with the season they have just had, rightly or wrongly, he is playing down expectations. That could help him in the transfer market when trying to sign players. I could be wrong
