Robbie new Club President

RW has been made joint Club President to share the role with JR.

A great move for the club.

Great work this is,as he will now not only be described as Port Vale fan RW it will be RW the President of Vale.... I have no doubt this will be in most papers tomorrow.

In his interview with Dan Townley he says he now wants to start doing more around the club.

Just replayed that section of the interview to my mrs. Very interesting! He says now he's president he feels he needs to "be doing more in & around this place."

Another thing to be thankful to the Shanahans for, the first owners capable of engaging RW properly & getting him involved.

I think historically Vale fans got impatient with Robbie expecting him to be involved from the days of Angels. However at this stage it makes sense now he is older and later on his career with maturity. It makes all the sense. Only ever good for Port Vale.

This Is great news for the club and can only help with PR and support what was talked about at the forum in taking the club forward.

In the past Robbie has given £250k to help keep us in business, promoted us around the World (Helping to sell merchandise as apart of process), done a charity gig and I believe even helped with getting the Senheisser shirt sponsorship and helped design a shirt amongst other things that are not overly publicised.

It's a great move to try to leverage his fame to grow the fanbase, regardless of what I think of his ego or music. It would be nice to see some of his money go in, but I hope he's even more effective at persuading other people with money to jump on board, take a ride.

All publicity is good publicity and all that. Couldn’t care less if it indeed becomes the Robbie show PVFC will still be in the public eye even if we’re not top of the bill.  

The Ipswich and Ed Sheeran connection seems to go under the radar (unlike Hollywood North Wales FC) as regards an entertainer being involved with their boyhood club.  Sheeran is Ipswich’s shirt sponsor perhaps that might be a first step for Robbie to get back involved? Puma may even be interested working with Robbie (another global brand?) beyond just football, who knows?
