Anyone remember the likes of Twitters, Burt, Bailey, blinkme from 10-15 years ago here? I always wonder what happened to a lot of the previous posters that used to post here every day. I think a few remain from back then, Mellor and Bede spring to mind.

...and SpunkTrumpet and Barry Edge

I can answer on behalf of Barry if that's OK.

Sadly, Barry's issues with eye sight have made it really difficult for him to participate. I've tried to customise some parts of the site for him, but it's still too difficult for him to post in the forum.

However, I can confirm that Barry is still in fine form and in regular email communication via his lovely wife Ann. They are both doing well and Barry still keeps up with the Vale both reading content on here and other sites.

I also know that Barry was apparently jumping up and down and cheering in the early hours this weekend, following Vale's dramatic 3-3 draw against Charlton!

I know loads of you miss his poems, his memoirs, his competitions and other contributions (I do) so if anyone wants a message passing on to him do let me know.

Lots of interesting posters that have disappeared.

One Eyed Dog

Robbie Williams future of PortVale

Robbie Earls Perm

Geosname seems to have gone in the last 12 months.

I wonder if some have morphed into other Usernames

There’s lots when you think about it,

Yeah, I guess OVF has been going a long time and has had thousands of members over the years. I know some users change names (mainly because I process the changes) wheras others drift off for one reason or another. I guess it's only natural that over decades of existence, there will be people who were on here but aren't any more.

I think the growth in social media had a big impact - I've never personally been glued to Facebook, Twitter etc - but I can see that some people may prefer to discuss the Vale there than on an "old fashioned" forum.

I'd like to think OVF is an alternative. It's no longer the central place to discuss the Vale but it offers an alternative. You aren't forced to use it but hopefully if you do, you will find it an enjoyable and entertaining experience. And if any of those "lost" members want to pop on this thread and say "hello" they'd be very welcome!
