Charlton (H) match thread - 6th Jan

Also. It’s odd, couple of months ago we couldn’t buy a goal but looked ok at the back. That has well and truly swapped, brilliant going forwards and frightening at the back! (More entertaining that way anyway)

Can anybody say that was boring (and mean it)?

Upsetting is more like it at our defence just going missing and forgetting what they should be doing.  Trying to play it out from the back and just can't do it.

For the neutral this was a entertaining game no doubt.  6 goals and then the ref and linesmen trying to imitate officials.

Best and worst of the Vale in 90 mins, great comeback and overall pleased with a point.

They had some tricky, dangerous players.

Uche brill, deserved his goal.

Don't be too upset we haven't lost.

Bloody hell WV looks like you are PrancingPony’s new beau with all these likes. Be careful he only had eyes for Osh until he dropped him for questioning AC.

Got to praise our resilience coming back 3 times, obviously the manager hasn’t lost the dressing room but got to grumble at the defending -the  manager has obviously lost the defending coaching manual.

Thing is we shouldn't have to come back 3 times due to stupid school boy defending.

If they did their jobs, we would have won this game and come away with 3 points.

Typical of this forum that so few people see it as 2 points dropped. Defend properly and we would have won this game comfortably.

No real point in starting to score goals if you're going to become more and more useless at the back as ultimately you'll continue to not win many games of football.

Maybe it is and defending was frighteningly bad but it was extremely entertaining and we did pick up a point from a losing position on 3 occasions. I’ll take a point

Better defending and it could (and probably should) have been 6 points against Charlton!

very true but overall i'm not gonna moan about 4 points from them. Defending needs sorting asap

We were dreadful first half, lucky to go in level but were the better team in the second half and if not for some horrendous defending should have taken the 3 points fairly convincingly.

There keeper also made a couple of fantastic saves. Some great crosses in from Grant and Massey. Thought that was Massey's best game for Vale. Really we deserved to win 4 3 but very entertaining.

The one thing Charlton have we don't is real pace.

On the contrary I suppose you'll be absolutely ecstatic that we scrambled to a home draw against one of the worst away teams in the league that were one place above us, while managing to gift them three goals.

Now don't forget to take your meds before dinner.

Come off it you negative <ovf censored>. Charlton are a good team with a budget way in the excess of ours. We’re not a million miles away. Your constant <ovf censored> is spoiling this forum.

Defending has needed to be sorted out for the last 2 seasons, but they still love watching opposition waltz through midfield and then defence.  Playing out from the back is just not working and yet AC and Co still want to do it.

Performance wasn't a problem today after a slow start but there's no getting away from the fact that we played one of the worst away sides in the league on a terrible run and one who seem to have a fanbase that are collectively desperate for their own manager to be sacked. It was a perfectly decent performance from an attacking aspect but a poor result, in my opinion.

Crosby still hasn't got a clue.

Thought we were quite direct today, hence why our possession was as low.
