January Transfers and Rumours

If we want to progress on the pitch it's plain as day that it's time to invest in a proper striker. They aren't cheap, but you've got to speculate to accumulate.

Ali Al-Hamadi from AFC Wimbledon would be the one I'd go for. Pacy, skilfull & knows where the goal is. Also creates lots of goals. Somebody will snap him up before long. Go & get him Carol.

Zero chance unfortunately… he will end up in the championship and they have apparently set a price of £1.2m+

Sunderland are keen as well as rumoured interest from Middlesborough, Burnley, Brighton, Brentford, Ipswich and Coventry.

What planet are you living on?

A quality striker is out of our budget and too risky (all eggs in one basket) get experienced management into the club on a short term basis to motivate existing players to get mean and ugly ... frighten them into scoring.

Bring in a Manager that loved motivating players ... Neil Warnock

I actually think, if both fit a forward line of Uche and Wilson could be highly effective. When both have been on their own, they have to battle and fight for the forward balls too much.

Uche has been doing the battling for balls rather well but then is never in position to actually finish things off. Wilson if played into space can surely finish things off or use his pace to run into the space Uche creates from stretching defenders.

Doubful it will be seen much unless Wilson gets a contract extension.

Earth. He's playing in League 2 for AFC Wimbledon, not Barcelona. He would cost some money no doubt, but he's exactly the kind of player we should be trying to bag.

You'd more than likely be selling him on for atleast double what you paid for him as well in less than 2 years time.

Mate we can't even afford fix the bogs, never mind pay 1.2 million for a striker. Dream on

I didn't know he was under contract for another 18 months to be honest. Potentially out of our price range but 100% the kind of player we should be scouting. He was rotting in Wycombe reserves & now look at him. 21 as well.

The bogs are being replaced and improved, which is more expensive than a short term repair.

Garrity is averaging nearly 1 in 3 from midfield. Looking like 10-15 easy for the season. 1/2 mil for him would be a nice return for a player signed as a L2 fringe player.

Why sell the only regular scorer we have ?

Any point putting a new roof on an inadequate 70 year old toilet block?

And it's not shortage of cash as we've said we'll bring in portaloos if we need them short-term...eg vs Middlesbrough.

Very true.

To be fair Stockton and Walker have been injured most of the season to date ,Presley can't get in the team, JCH sulking he didn't get one last pay day, Tyrese Simpson thinks he's a baller and therefore doesn't need to work hard because he had a good 3 months in L2 and Dale Taylor is not a proven goal scorer.

I would still love to have Stockton in our squad.

Also to be fair, our own strikers have had injuries!

I don't know how much he'd cost but Matt Smith at Salford seems to score regular and is big and physical.

This is an impossible statement to make.

You don't know how they would have done at Vale - different styles/locations/settling in periods etc etc

Personally I think we'd have been stronger with any of those.

But - by your own statement (almost) - impossible to be certain!
