Young is a really odd one. On this season he looks a top signing, but his record previously is very poor. He’s at a good age so hopefully it’s a case of him getting better rather than being a 1 season wonder. Bradford clearly don’t rate him (or didn’t rate him)

If we have got 100k for Uche and then spent this on Young I’m happy with that.

Didn't score a single goal at barrow before swindon, just shows it works at certain clubs. Look at Pope with Bury, worth a punt i'd be happy with Young myself

He has 6 months left on his contract, and has scored 1 goal. I like Uche and he’s done well last few games and I don’t want us to sell unless we have a replacement lined up. But I’d drive him there for 100k

You are right about the contract but I think we could get a deal worth 200k done. He has a lot to offer.

If Charlton have paid 200k for Uche it’s the biggest scam in football since Bristol Rovers managed to not only offload loft to us but charge us a handsome fee for doing so.

Looks more and more likely that Uche is moving on. This bloke is usually spot on.

You can only assume we've received a really good fee, which will be 'undisclosed'. But he's literally just got match fit, and it's a shame we don't get to benefit from that. But surely we have a player(s) lines up to replace Uche.

How? He receives the ball very well in areas where most players cant. Skipping alot of passing and messing about at the back. Once he has the ball he can drive and shoot or pass out to wingers. We have all seen him at the vale receiving the ball from the keep with 2 men on him and then turn them both and have crack on gole or pass it out to a winger instantly starting an attack. Any way you put it just him being up there creates chances. Within 10 seconds of ripley passing it to him and receiving it we are normally on the attack. I want 200k for him or we might regret selling him at all.

Have to go for him given there issues.

He’s worth a nibble…. Move Uche on, replace with Sam Smith on an18 month contract at zero net cost? Would be great but of business.

It’s all about the player fitting the system.

Because he only has 6 months left on his contract and has scored 1 goal. I agree with you about his qualities, I rate him. But I don’t think he’s worth that much with his contract situation personally

We signed Uche on a free quite late into the season. I'm not suggesting he is on peanuts but probably a short term deal with a promise of game time to get back playing and its worked for us and Uche.

I can't imagine a team paying a fee to sign a player on a 6 month contract so if Charlton have had a bid accepted it'll be a contract till atleast the end of next season.

Despite the upturn in performances, commitment and presence up top, would you be happy signing him on a larger contract and for longer?

I do appreciate what he brings to the team but ultimately if we want to threaten top half finishes we need a more natural goal scorer.

Yep, we spend months getting him fit to the point that he frightened Charlton that much they immediately want to buy him and pair him with Alfie May.

You would like to think so, but I thought that when we allowed Connor Hall to leave.  Hope it's not nice port vale again

The deal of the century would be sell Uche to fund Sam Smith and Harvey Knibbs from cash strapped Reading. Won't happen as wages would probably be an issue. If it was a choice of Young or Smith I'd take Smith every day.

Shows how crazy football is, Uche landed at Vale in October.  Being realistic he only signed because nobody else wanted him. Less than 4 months later clubs want to buy him .... after a solitary goal!

It won't be a lot of money for Uche. If we were demanding silly money, Charlton could just wait 6 months and get him for nothing in July.

Getting him off the wage bill after 2-3 good games (with no long-term value) and 10 average-poor ones, and replacing him with a player with as much upside as Young on a 2.5 year deal is fundamentally sensible business, especially as we're not going to be challenging at either end of the table in the next 6 months.

As with any lower league signing, you can't guarantee its success, but Young can clearly produce in the right system and won't be fully developed as a striker yet. For his Barrow loan, he never played a full 90 and only started 5 games - mostly on the left wing. Swindon have showed what a consistent run up front can do.

No idea about this Young folk going on about him like he is Messi .

A player who signs for Vale is only as good as the team mates he plays with .

We will see cannot understand why Uches being allowed leave, for a player a league below ,we knew what we were getting with Uche gamely he was bringing his A game to the games ok he wasn't scoring  2 every game but he is about too in my opinion,  he was involved in everything what was good about recent performances .

Big day for Vale let's see if anything happens I feel it be a no incoming day. and 3 out .

Great preparation for sat .

Even if Uche does play now if he as got his heart set on elsewhere, then he may not perform so if wants go he goes with my blessing not happy about it though as long ball game will not be effective without him so be back to pass pass pass pass back to Ripley thump it too masseys head (has he ever won a header )and repeat .

Like I say big day especially if Uche is going as in theory you selling a player who was beginning shine ,like Grant and Alwnick were all them years ago when last got relegation from this league .

Bizarre stuff mind you reading comments on here about how awful they felt Uche was no wonder he wants out .

Be careful what you wish for
