I thought Rooney did an excellent job at Derby and wasn't far off keeping them up despite having a points deduction. 

Obviously he's struggled at Brum but they are going to be the new Watford. Basket case owners.

Without being a complete shambles the Blues have been a money pit and a mess for years. Another sjoke like club who think a big name manager will solve all problems.

Here's an idea for a very short thread - Successful top level player who becomes successful manager - Pep Guardiola, Ancelotti, Zidane (maybe)

Add him to the pile of successful players who failed at management

Steve Bruce (whilst we has had some success, never rated him)

Possibly harsh... Shipped in to rescue his hometown club...    But to be fair did nothing to turn the club around in 8 games in charge and was the man that took Newcastle down...     Never touched management since...

Yeah think that put him off if for life. Much easier to be a pundit as Neville and Keane for that matter have found.

Another name who was a great player but as a manager had minimal success was Gianfranco Zola. Also remember John Barnes attempts at being a manager at Celtic and Tranmere.

Mainstream pundits are far better off financially than becoming managers. Wasn’t that what Andy Gray stated when he worked for Sky and he was linked with a managers role. He stated he was earning £40k a week at Sky at the time.
