Bycars Memories.....

First started going in the Bycars 70/71 season still there now and don’t really want to move.

lots of memories during that time standing by the tea bar.

always the chants would go up, chell Heath boys, then park estate, always ended by Smallthorne Clampetts, we’re the Smallthorne Clampetts.

the infamous West Ham cup tie, Ian Bogie 12 seconds, the Spurs game where I remember, strangely enough, singing who,s ate all the pies, big fat Dave big fat Dave.

the Ian Humphreys goalkeeper incident.

Ian and myself were only talking about the Peter Mellor incident last week, he's still embarrassed about it to this day ..

From the Hamil end in Burslem to the shores of Sicily, doesn’t have the same ring to it.

Class songs in those days, even though as a kid I didn't always catch the words.

Was it "From the Bycars End of Burslem, to the shores of Sicily, We will fight, fight, fight for the Vale til we win the Football League...then something about Stoke and Division 2?

Also used to love "Bless 'em all"!

No need to be embarrassed, he was young. Talk of the school the next day.
I was in hospital that week with a broken leg & ankle, I was reading the "sentinel" about this Vale fan going on the pitch, Ian came in to visit me and i said to him "do you know who this is" (pointing at said article)... He quietly confessed to me there and then..

Loved the Bycars, ST holder in there 1981-1997.

Favourite memories include Walker v Tottenham and Earle v Bristol Rovers. Although my personal favourite was the 6-1 hammering of Cardiff and Ron Futchers screamer.

That was when I first thought we've got something special happening here & we then had 10 amazing years of great entertainment under Sir John and his band of entertainers.

I didn’t always catch all the words, your first bits are spot on, then something like go to hell with Walsall FC , go to hell with Stoke City, we will fight fight fight for the Vale till we win the football league.

Bless em all, bless em all, the long the short and the tall,

bless all the people who wear black and white, bless all the people who’re willing to fight.

bless em all bless em all the long the short and the tall, cuz we won’t be mastered by you red n white barstewards so cheer up you lads bless em all.

Be good to get these songs going again next Sunday for the last time.

We need more songs at Vale regardless. Agree with you for the Bycars songs, once last time etc, but with new beginnings in the Hamil we need a better atmosphere, only having 3 songs doesn't help. There's a lot of songs that have just been abandoned for some reason. There's others that just need adapting from other clubs too. Needs it's own thread closer to first home game of next season probably.

I hope that his punishment under the criminal justice system at that time wasn’t too severe.

Old family friend started my vale days off in the Bycars in the mid 80s

Remember playing footy ourselves as young kids at the front at half time

Standing on the wall at the back was a great view

Best memory in there has got be spurs

One other personal favourite of mine was Naylors late winner v Oldham which had us on the edge of the Championship playoffs. One of  the wilder celebrations can remember, at the end the camera cuts to showing the Bycars and it just looked immense then.

Thank you. There were quite a few in the Bycars that day.
