I don't think for one minute Jean is not there singing, shouting, getting off her seat when we score like the rest of us.  What games like Sheffield, Derby and others does is bring out the some of our idiots who show no consideration to some of our older or younger supporters.  I personally would sooner stand at a game if I could, will always choose a terrace over a seat and if there earlier enough would make my way to the back of the stand so not obstructng those who are not able to stand throughout.  It is the constant standing in front of people who might have difficulties viewing the game that gets to me.  Are we saying that for big followings the young children and older people should not go.

I am certainly not saying anybody should not be going to any game.

I accept that we, just as most other clubs, have some followers who I would call idiots.

My view is that football is an emotional, exciting, passionate sport.  People get lost in it.

Unfortunately,  that tends to happen when there's a bigger following, because the excitement is heightened.

I've spent enough times watching Vale alongside three men and a dog at dumps like Crawley, stevenage and hartlepool. Games like this are to be made the most of.  For some, that means getting boisterous.  And that doesn't make them bad people does it?  They're lapping it up!

To go as far as to say you're not looking forward to a big game like this because there will be a lot of us and that we'll be a bit more excitable than usual is ludicrous.

In my opinion, of course.

I've been a small child in a stand full of grown adults before and it really isn't a big deal.

The vast majority of people will sit down if asked due to there being someone elderly or disabled or a child behind them.

The odd areshole won't but that,I'm afraid, is life.

I'm very much looking forward to Sheffield Wednesday.

Long may these games continue.

I'm sure everyone will behave like oh, I don't know, football fans.

I'll be sat down for much of it I'd have thought.  I tend to be.

But the thought of others not necessarily doing the same for whatever reason, such as getting a bit excited, doesn't really make me feel less up for it.

When we score do you get off your bum or sit there lightly applauding?

When we score of course I get off me bum. I’d prefer not to be off it for 90 minutes because I can’t see a bloody thing with some big fat bastard standing in front of me!!  My knees won’t take it!!

It may be ludicrous to you mate but when you’re in your 70s and only 5feet tall it isn’t.

If not, yeah, they're arseholes.

I’m afraid the section of the stand we were in at Derby was populated by a high percentage of arseholes!  I hope things will be better at Sheffield and the stewarding is a bit more effective.

From experience, most folk I’ve met who claim to be 5 feet tall are usually only 4 foot 10, but have delusions of grandeur.  Either way, may I suggest making it a priority that you put a pair of 6” platforms at the top of your Christmas list when writing that letter to Santa.  You never know your luck. 🍀

Pity it wasn't  unallocated seating really.

Without it you could've picked where you wanted to sit, arsehole free.

I wouldn't expect decent people to sit down for the benefit of those behind them if it meant they couldn't see the game because of several rows standing in front of them. The facts are that families are discouraged from going to away games like this because younger children wont see anything and older fans wont want to stand for 90 mins. There really ought to be an allocated block for families for big away games and I don't see why Vale couldn't request this.

It was allocated seating but a lot of people just seemed to ignore it.
Trouble is it only takes a few idiots who sit in the wrong seat and refuse to move to cause a snowball effect. If someone is in your seat and won't move you have to sit somewhere and everything just falls apart. Stewards should sort this out but are generally useless and of course you then get the pissed up brigade turning up about 5 mins in just to cap it all off. Seen it so many times in busy away ends.
