I love Andy Porter. He was very much underrated. I think because there was Bogie, Walker, VDL there, Porter was seen as a "bite their legs" but I think he was far better than that. What we'd give for someone of that class coming through the youth team now...

Naylor and Guppy are unplayable in this form.

Everywhere you look then we had a very good team.

Hill was another underrated player. Tankard was as good a full back as we've ever had.

I always thought the Everton game was as good as I've ever seen us play - and it was. It should have been about 5-2.

Guppy again ! The guy was a genius ! His fitness levels were incredible !

Well thanks, Rob. What a brilliant game, perfect for a lockdown evening, thoroughly enjoyable. It's really good to watch this Vale side, full of skill and running and superbly organised by Rudgie. MOM Naylor for me, can't believe how he didn't score. No one watching that could ever argue that it wasn't deserved, we played them off the pitch.

Just need a few seasons now for JA to bring us back to life!

What a peformance that was! Thanks Rob for putting that on.

Great to see two teams committed to attack and playing with an honesty that never seems to happen these days.

That was 24 years ago but that has brought back the feelings of pride coming away from that game, I just hope I can see us play somewhere near as well in the future.

Fantastic match ! 

What was really noticeable was that there was hardly a foul in the game which let the game flow. Play exactly the same match today and there’d be players diving and cards galore.

And a joy to see TWO up front !
